Chapter 163 - The Golem Head

Chapter 163 The Golem Head

Kailey winced in pain as she rubbed her backside, which had just hit the ground. Feeling uncomfortable pressure on her lap, she saw that the golem's head was now resting on it. Reacting instinctively, she pushed the head away, momentarily forgetting her pain.

The sound of something rolling across the floor caught Aleshia's attention. She approached Kailey and asked, "Kailey, did you find something?" repeating a question that Kailey had asked earlier.

Kailey got off the ground and picked up the golem's head she had flung. "Here," she said as she extended the head toward Aleshia. Aleshia looked away at first but gradually turned back to the object.

"Is that one of the golem heads?" Aleshia asked, confused.

"Yeah, it is," Kailey replied. "They seem to be removable." She turned the head in her hands with curiosity and then made a request. "Since you look close to being finished combing that corner of the room, would you mind helping me?"

Aleshia reluctantly accepted. "Sure, I have time."

"Great," Kailey said. "We can get started with this winged golem here." Gesturing toward said golem, and began walking toward it.

Aleshia scanned the golem while behind Kailey as she approached it. Kailey plopped down near it and began trying to pull at the golem's limbs. Aleshia noticed that Kailey had set the golem's head down beside herself. Curious, Aleshia picked it up and began to inspect it. From a distance, the head appeared to be a regular human head. However, seeing it closer, it looked more inanimate; the skin color resembled dirt more than human skin. When she turned it upside down, she expected to find a connection point or a hollowed-out hole, but the neck appeared to function more like a cork from a wine bottle.

Aleshia found it strange and wanted to see how it would work for herself. She approached the beheaded golem and peered inside the body from where the head should have been. Inside, it was pitch black, so Aleshia asked Kailey to shine her light inside, and she complied. On her second look, Aleshia noticed an astonishing number of magic circles and etchings covering the interior walls, layered on top of one another. If she wasn't scrutinizing it so closely, she might've thought they were chaotic scribbles and scratch marks. But closer inspection revealed the intricate arrangements.

"Hey Kailey, what do you think of these inscriptions here?" Aleshia asked, pointing inside the golem.
