The high thick and grey walls of the dungeon surrounded the worn out red haired—curled up in a corner away from the metal bars.
The very same cell room Ravenna had been locked up before her sudden release.
She turned, her breaths coming out in soft whispers. The cold seeped into her skin, threatening to freeze her to death—not even the long court maid dress could shield her from the cold.
The smell of sweats and wastes from every corner had come to form a stale moldy stench that stuck with no ventilation to allow fresh air.
The red haired girl sighed the look in her eyes distant.
She wasn't even fazed by the current situation or the environment...what bothered her was the fact that she was caught.
It wasn't supposed to happen, she had been quick on her feet—if not for the barrier she wouldn't have been caught.
She needed to leave this palace as soon as she could, she didn't have much time left.
She gently moved towards the metal bars seperating her from freedom. She grabbed the lock, wanting to pick it and escape the dungeon.
It was annoyingly big and if one wasn't careful the huge lock would make a sound and have her caught.
She nervously preesed down on the lock, almost inserting her small pin—
" I wouldn't do that if i were you ". She heard a small but firm voice reprimand. She jolted surprised someone was there and watching her too.
She hadn't sensed anyone.
She squinted trying to see who it was—silently poking out her legs from between the iron bar, she kicked the small lamp towards the direction the voice came from.
It successfully slided over and illuminated the once dark area. The window was so small that there was barely enough lighting inside the dungeon —also the rainy atmosphere further enhanced the gloom.
He just sat there, legs folded in a cross section—hands folded and his eyes closed.
But what surprised her was the fact that he looked young, infact small—too small to be amongst prisoners in the dungeon.
He looked like he was 8 years old or so.
' what is he doing here ? '
" Had enough staring ? " He now Opened his eyes to directly meet hers. There was something in his eyes that remained hidden —like a deep buried secret locked away in the farthest and darkest depth.
The red haired glared at him. He was too bold and collected for an eight year old.
" How did you end up here ? " She couldn't lie she was curious and seriously what was an eight year old maybe older doing in the dungeon.
How cruel are the royals ?
"What about you, How did you end up here ? " He threw back. His voice hypnotizingly calm and way too mature.
" Never mind " She dismissed not wanting to share her story.
She turned away, and he caught sight of the red hand prints on her cheeks. It seemed she had been rough handled, she must have done something as outrageous as escaping the palace.
' He must be a spy ' She thought.
He just seemed too composed no normal child could pull that off.
They had met before, he knew this. Back then she was so small —so young that she probably had forgotten about it now.
He had saved her life that fateful night in the water. She had almost drowned in her unconscious state.
He wouldn't have intervened but then he saw her red hair glow under water and he immediately knew she was one of the destinies.
Now that they met again, she seemed to have grown up fine—except with a tinge darkness in her.
She had cut her red hair Short though. He almost wanted to facepalm, her long hair was an important peice of her.
" How careless " He sneered, muttering aloud.
" Are you referring to me ? " She turned ready to glare at him.
' What did he mean by careless '
He just shook his head and turned away, with a sigh
" They always forget me " He whispered, referring to the mortals.
Rolling his eyes at their foolishness.
" What did you say ? " She slowly turned having caught what he said.
The way his eyes bored into her gave her chills, and she felt something shift in her memory.
She twitched in pain as a small ringing sound resounded in her ear. She closed her eyes and covered her ears to block the sound but it was of no use.
Her memory shifted again and this time she caught it.
A small red haired almost drowning in the water unconscious and wounded. Something cold embraced her and she found herself on shore eyes opened and vibrant again.
She saw his small legs walking back into the water and immediately grabbed it.
" Don't touch me, " He hissed.
" You are one of the destinies " The anger in his tone was evident yet subtle.
" Who are you ? " She managed to speak with her strained voice.
He just smiled.... a chilling one but she was too drowsy to see it.
" Still asking the wrong questions " He finally turned around to glare and she caught his face and then there was this fog that covered every where and he was gone.
And she unconscious again.
The red haired sat up again slowly coming back to the present. Her eyes slowly trailed towards him and he was still staring at her his eyes now extremely cold.
" You are that boy in my dreams ? " Her hands were trembling.
" Was it really a dream ? " He asked quiet disappointed that she thought of that memory as a dream.
Was she still in denial about the experience.
Then who did she think had saved her from drowning.
The red haired was still confused, she thought she floated to shore or was washed there but who knew that dream that looked unreal was actually a memory.
Then if he really was the one who saved her when she was still very small then how come he was still looked the same.
The young boy that saved her back then should have grown right ??
" Then how.... " She was extremely puzzled and from her expression he already knew what she was thinking.
He gently smiled knowing she was wondering why he never aged, but it wasn't the right time for introduction.
He had other business and the timing was so close he could smell it....
" I'm one of the destinies ? What does that mean ? " She was now extremely curious yet cautious.
What she had seen definitely wasn't a lie because suddenly it felt like it was part of her memory. Like a huge gap had been closed and she needed to know more.
But she had bigger problems than the lost memories she just found.
The loud groaning of the iron bars caught both their attention.
It was the guard and it seemed he had come for her.
" Get up " He commanded grabbing her by the hair.....
