Following Xiao Qi, Durin felt Shangjing to be a peculiar city.
Standing on the avenue and looking far off, Durin could see a section of the city wall built a thousand years ago. In that era, Changtangians were still striving to establish their homeland; the city walls were their guarantee of victory over the Otherkind. Now, most of these walls have been dismantled—as there are rarely any sightings of Otherkind within the core territories of Chang Tang.
The remaining walls serve as defensive nodes—near the coast of Shangjing, after the Four Islands were corroded by Chaos, there would occasionally be Otherkind and Chaos Species drifting over the sea.
