Chapter 256 - Chapter 270 At Least

"There's no point in saying more. I think we can start the voting phase." Michonne said calmly.

Carl looked at Michonne with a slightly frown, but Michonne's eyes did not give in at all, and the determination in them was no less than Carl's.

Carl retracted his gaze and said, "Everyone, I hope you can think carefully about this. I always plan before I act. Believe me, I promise that I will never push you into the abyss."

"You're trying to push us into the abyss, but I don't blame you, you're just too young," said Michonne.

Karl bit the inside of his lip and said nothing more, "In that case, let's vote. Those who object raise your hands."

Michonne raised her hand without hesitation, followed by Tyree. After the two of them, the scene froze.

After a few seconds, Daryl raised his hand, which made Carl's heart jump slightly. After Daryl, Rick raised his hand again.

Then, Martinez, Maggie, a total of six people, and the others either agreed with Carl's proposal.

It was simply because they were thinking about whether to raise their hands. If Carl asked those who agreed to raise their hands, Carl could believe that even fewer people would raise their hands.

Human nature is like this. They would rather maintain the status quo than make a decision. Even if they know that maintaining the status quo is also a decision, they will hesitate.

Karl felt relieved and was about to speak quickly. If he waited a little longer, others would most likely continue to make choices. Although they were a bit despicable, as long as he could achieve his goal, what did it matter?

"Wait." Michonne spoke first, her eyes wide open, and she glanced at everyone with obvious anger.

"What are you hesitating about? I know many of you have a good relationship with Karl, but now is not the time to consider the relationship. I hope you can understand that this is a matter of life and death for all of us!

Because your decision today may kill many people! The peace of prison will be gone forever. Do you want to kill the people you care about?"

"Hey, Michonne, you're interfering with the vote." Carl frowned slightly.

"I'm just stating the facts. If you want, you can continue. If you can get them to put their hands down, that's fine with me."

Michonne fought back and refused to give in, although she did like Carl a little, perhaps because of Rick, or perhaps because Carl was very likable when he was normal.

But Michonne is very clear about the distinction between reason and emotion. She knows that someone must stand up and that Carl cannot be allowed to take advantage of other people's feelings and make vague decisions.

This is no small matter, Michonne knows very well that she has to do it even if Carl will resent her in the future.

"Carl, I'm sorry." Carol raised her hand.

"It's okay." Carl forced a smile at her.

"Kid, although I really want to agree with you, Michonne is right. This matter does require careful consideration, and this... I don't want to see bloodshed and sacrifice. I'm sorry." Dr. Stevens raised his hand with some apology.

"Ma'am, I can understand that," Carl said, biting his lip.

There are already eight people, which means the result is out.

The fact that others did not raise their hands does not mean that they approve of Carl, but it doesn't matter whether they approve or not.

"So, Carl, do you have anything else to say?" Michonne showed her big white teeth, perhaps she didn't mean to pretend to be a winner.

"No more, well, that's it, it's true."

This was an expected result, but it was not so easy to accept.

"I'm leaving first." Carl left the front seat and walked out without looking back.

"Hey, Carl." Sean called out a little worriedly.

"I'm fine, don't worry, it's just that it's over and I should leave."

Karl said this without even turning his head, opened the door, stepped out, and closed the door.

I walked out of the corridor and the door in a daze. The sunlight outside seemed a little dazzling. It was obviously not the season when there was too little sunlight.

Walking out of the first residential area and the second area which had been mostly converted into fields and animal pens, we arrived at the third area.

At the edge of the third area, there is a barbed wire fence, with fingers grabbing the wire, and just outside the barbed wire fence, there is a zombie, also grabbing the barbed wire fence like Carl.

Carl's arrival made it excited, and it tried hard to put its hand in. Even though a lot of flesh and blood were scratched by the wire, it was unaware of it.

"Uh uh…"

Carl pulled out the dagger he was carrying and stabbed it into its brain, and the roar stopped abruptly.

Still holding the dagger in his hand, he pointed it at the woods outside the barbed wire and the corpses of several zombies beside the barbed wire.

Carl felt like he needed to vent, and was very upset, even though he could understand and guess that it would not succeed.

But after being rejected, it is very difficult to control the instinctive unhappiness. The body's instincts and emotional changes are often beyond our control.

"A little paranoid, and too much desire for control."

Carl knew his problem, but it didn't really matter whether he knew it or not. After all, there was no way to change it, and compared to the real problem, it was just a small problem.

"Are you angry?"

A voice suddenly came from behind him, and Carl subconsciously clenched the dagger, but then he frowned, rubbed the dagger on the ground before retracting it and turning around.

"I think I miscalculated a little."

"What?" Liz smiled, if that was a smile.

The corners of his mouth were raised, his lips slightly parted, revealing his white teeth. Yes, it was a smile, but it felt strange, like...

A stiff, forced smile.

Karl frowned slightly and looked at Liz, "You might be a disaster if you keep it."

Liz's already stiff smile became even stiffer, then disappeared. "But you won't kill me. What a shame."

"it's a pity."

"What a shame," Liz laughed again.

Carl frowned and thought, forget it, he won't bother with a madman. He was already in a bad mood, and if he continued to be provoked, Carl felt that he might really not be able to bear it.

"You deliberately provoked me because you think I'm too normal? Do you want me to become the kind of pervert that you feel scares you? Why is your train of thought so strange?"

Liz blinked in surprise, then lowered her head, "I was wrong."

"I don't blame you. How could I blame you? It's just that you can see that I'm in a bad mood, so don't bother me. Go and do what you should do."

"Maybe I can help you, you're in a bad mood." Liz walked over to Carl.

"Help me? You can't help me." Carl smiled helplessly.

"If someone makes you feel bad, I can help you kill him. If that happens, you will feel better." Liz looked at Carl seriously and said.

Karl was slightly stunned. Compared to himself, Liz was more seriously ill, but...

It didn't seem that serious before? Could it be that my guidance had the opposite effect?

Carl held Liz's head with his hand. "Remember what I taught you? At least make yourself look normal, even in front of me."

"I...I understand."
