After a whoosh of wind by her ears, Lu Yingying realized she was shielded by Ye Xi's arms over her head.
Ye Susu's swing with the iron rod struck Ye Xi's upper arm, the pain making her vision darken.
But Ye Xi was relieved, at least it hadn't hit Lu Yingying's head.
If it really had, with the rod being so heavy, life or death would have been uncertain.
Lu Yingying, too, was petrified by the sudden change of events, frozen in place.
Ye Xi had only stripped off half of the rope on her, raised her hands to block the blow for Lu Yingying, and now the pain almost robbed her of the ability to think.
Still, she instinctively said to Lu Yingying, "Run, run inside!"
Lu Yingying scrambled to her feet, rolling and crawling, and upon Ye Xi's command, ran inside without looking back.
Just as Ye Susu was about to chase after her, Ye Xi grabbed ahold of her fur coat from behind.
Ye Xi yelled, "Ye Susu, the person you're targeting is me, what does she have to do with it?"
