Almost immediately, a small table materialized beside Kai, bearing a plate of his favorite spicy crackers and the artisanal cheese he pretended to hate but secretly loved.
His eyes flew open in delight. "No way! It worked!" Carefully shifting Nova to one arm with the practiced ease of a devoted father, he grabbed a cracker and stuffed it into his mouth, then spoke around it in a spray of crumbs. "This place is amazing!"
Marcus sighed deeply, reaching to reclaim Nova before Kai could shower her with cracker debris. "Six minutes. A new record."
"The healing chamber of an ancient civilization, and you use it to conjure snacks," Samantha said, shaking her head in fond exasperation as she watched Marcus protectively shield their daughter from Kai's enthusiastic eating.
"Hey, hunger is a legitimate need," Kai defended himself, already reaching for more crackers. "Besides, I'm sure the chamber is multi-tasking. Healing vibes and snacks. Win-win."
