"You are so rude. Didn't you see that we haven't finished speaking?" James said irritably when his opening remarks were interrupted.
"Forget it. Since you have money, we'll forgive your rudeness!" Jessie replied dismissively. Their purpose, after all, was simply to make money.
"That's right, meow! You don't need to be so formal!" Meowth chimed in.
"Team Rocket! It's you again!!" Misty gritted her teeth in anger when she spotted the familiar troublemakers.
"Our Pokémon, unlike your naive Trainer's Pokémon, don't care about your little Diglett!" Jessie sneered in response to Misty's outburst.
"Hmph! You guys really don't understand the lesson you've been given all these times!" Gary frowned slightly as he looked at the duo.
He had already encountered Team Rocket previously when they interrupted his contest with Ash. The memory was still fresh in his mind. Green just frowned slightly as she observed them.
"Do you think we're still the same people we were before?" Jessie began dramatically.
"After countless failures, we have been reborn. Today, we are no longer who we used to be!" James continued their theatrical speech with equal flair.
"There's so much nonsense. Why don't we just battle?" Ash couldn't stand it anymore.
"You little brat, don't interrupt us all the time. I'll teach you a lesson this time!" Jessie snapped angrily before she and James threw their Poké Balls simultaneously.
The two Poké Balls collided in mid-air. It was just as they had claimed—their Pokémon weren't hiding in their Poké Balls like other trainers' Pokémon typically did.
Following two beams of light, two figures descended rapidly from the sky. Misty and Brock were surprised when they saw the Pokémon that emerged.
"This is...!!"
Although the Pokémon they sent out had silhouettes resembling Ekans and Koffing, they were clearly not the same.
"Arbok and Weezing?!"
"So their Pokémon have evolved! No wonder they boasted about being completely transformed," Brock remarked in surprise. He hadn't expected Team Rocket's Pokémon to have evolved.
Weezing, the evolved form of Koffing, had two heads—one large and one small. Its body sections were connected by a central point, though it still strongly resembled Koffing in appearance.
Arbok, the evolved form of Ekans, was even larger, with a body length exceeding three meters. It had transformed from a rattlesnake form into a cobra shape.
Strange patterns decorated the inside of its flat neck, resembling a grinning grimace that created an intimidating presence when the Pokémon stretched its body.
"Come on! Weezing, use Poison Gas!" With their Pokémon released, Team Rocket exuded confidence as James took the initiative to attack.
"Weeeezing!"
Weezing immediately floated forward. With its body now consisting of two connected spheres, both the range and volume of smoke it could release had increased substantially. Both heads simultaneously expelled thick purple smoke from their pores.
Unlike a normal Smokescreen, Poison Gas not only affected visibility but also contained a high concentration of toxins. Seeing this, surrounding Trainers fled in fear.
"Huh, what a trick! Let's go, my Pokémon!"
Gary thought to himself that he couldn't let Ash steal the spotlight this time. He took out a Poké Ball, kissed it for luck, and then threw it forward.
The Poké Ball opened, and a Pokémon leaped out. It carried a heavy shell and had an indigo body. Its rounded head featured wing-like ears, with fangs protruding from both sides of its mouth.
Small blue markings decorated both cheeks, and its light blue tail curled like ocean waves.
"Wartortle, use Rapid Spin!!"
This Pokémon was Wartortle, the evolved form of Squirtle, and it was the starter Pokémon that Gary had received from Professor Oak.
"Warrrrtortle!"
Wartortle obeyed Gary's command, immediately withdrawing into its shell and spinning rapidly in mid-air. The rotation generated a powerful air current that rolled the surrounding smoke toward itself, before releasing a forceful breath that dispersed the poisonous fumes.
"It's Wartortle! I didn't see Gary using it last time at Porta Vista!" Misty exclaimed in surprise as she watched Wartortle easily dissipate the poisonous smoke.
"This Wartortle must be Gary's ace Pokémon. Maybe back then, he was saving it as his trump card!"
Generally speaking, a Trainer's starter Pokémon tends to be the one they've raised the longest. Naturally, their strength would be exceptional. This Wartortle was likely held in reserve as a trump card during their previous encounter, but Gary's strategy had been foiled by Team Rocket in that battle.
"Arbok, use Wrap!!" Jessie commanded, launching her attack.
"Chaaabok!"
Arbok lunged forward swiftly, unfurling its slender body and coiling directly around Wartortle. Despite Wartortle's protective shell, the power of Arbok's constriction halted its Rapid Spin and left it trapped in Arbok's grip.
"Ivysaur, use Vine Whip!!"
"Ivysaur!"
Seeing this, Green threw her Poké Ball. She also sent out her starter Pokémon, but her Bulbasaur had evolved into Ivysaur.
The moment it landed, Ivysaur activated Vine Whip, extending four vines that struck Arbok in quick succession. Arbok screeched in pain and instinctively released Wartortle from its grasp.
"Since this is how it's going to be, Weezing, use Sludge attack!!"
"Weeeezing!"
Seeing Arbok at a disadvantage, James quickly gave Weezing a new command. Weezing immediately opened its mouths, releasing countless globs of toxic mud.
"A rare scene indeed! You go too, Charmeleon! Use Flamethrower!" Ash grinned as he observed the evolved Pokémon used by Gary and Green. He adjusted his cap and threw his own Poké Ball.
"Char!"
"BOOM!!"
The moment Charmeleon appeared, it immediately unleashed powerful flames that collided with the Sludge attack, causing an instant explosion. A cloud of smoke enveloped the battlefield, and when it cleared, the three starter Pokémon stood side by side, facing Team Rocket.
"How amazing! All three Trainers' starter Pokémon have evolved!" Misty couldn't help but admire the sight before her.
