YouHeal Hospital

Savannah sat in her hospital room, her expression unreadable as she stared at the screen of her phone. The clock on the wall read 1:30 PM—the hospital's usual break time. The atmosphere was quiet, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning. She absentmindedly tapped her fingers against the screen before finally unlocking her phone and opening Blaze's chat. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for a moment, then she typed a straightforward message.

"You in the company?"

After hitting send, she fixed her gaze on the screen, almost willing it to light up with a reply. Her heart raced lightly against her ribs, though she couldn't quite pinpoint why.

In less than a minute, her phone vibrated in her hand, causing her to flinch slightly.

"On an inspection to the other branch," Blaze texted back.

A flicker of something unreadable crossed her eyes. She paused as to what to say now.

"Why?"

Another message popped on her screen from Blaze.

Her grip on the phone tightened as she waited, her thoughts drifting in a thousand directions. The moment didn't last long, as she thought and typed a message.

"Wanted to have lunch together."

Savannah's mind again drifted into several directions at her own response. She was in a deep thought about if he would buy it. It was a rare treat for her to carve out time for something like this during the day. Just as her thoughts could explore, another message came through.

"On my way."

Her eyes widened a bit. She quickly typed back, "No! It's all good, you don't need to leave your work."

She bit her lip, watching the three dots flicker on and off, signaling he was typing. A moment later, she had typed another message not giving him any chance to argue.

"Make up for it tonight."

Savannah let out a soft sigh, as sge waited for his response, and the reply cake through, "Oh honey! I'll make it up to you in every way."

Her lips parted slightly when she saw his response pop up almost instantly.

"Gotta go, see you tonight!"

Just as she hit send, the door to her cabin creaked open. She looked up to see Bella walking in, balancing two cups of coffee in her hands. Bella was in her usual hospital scrubs, a faint smile dancing on her lips. She approached the desk and set one of the cups down with a gentle thud.

Savannah stood up quickly, shrugging off her white coat and grabbing her purse in one smooth motion.

"Bella, I'm heading out for a bit. If anyone asks, just say I'm gone on a visit," she said in a rush, adjusting the strap of her bag over her shoulder.

Bella's smile faded into a look of confusion. "Wait, what? Where are you going? Are you okay?"

But Savannah was already striding towards the door, her heels clicking against the tiled floor.

"I'll be back soon," she called over her shoulder before disappearing down the hallway, leaving Bella standing there, still holding the second cup of coffee, her brow furrowed with concern.

Hallow Hill Prison

An hour later, Savannah pulled into the parking lot of a stark, grey building. The large sign at the entrance read "Hallow Hill Prison." She took a deep breath, gripping the steering wheel tightly before exhaling slowly. Her fingers trembled slightly as she reached for the door handle and stepped out of the car.

The air was thick with an eerie stillness as she walked toward the towering structure before her. The high, barbed-wire fences loomed above, and the cold, institutional feel of the place sent a shiver down her spine. Earlier that day, she had called to schedule an appointment, and they had told her she could come anytime. Now, standing at the threshold of the truth she sought, her heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and unease.

Reaching the entrance, she stepped inside, where she was immediately met by a stern-looking security guard. "Identification, please," he said in a firm voice.

Savannah quickly retrieved her ID and handed it over. After a moment of scrutiny, the guard nodded and motioned her forward. "Proceed to the security check."

She passed through the metal detectors, carefully following the procedures, her nerves stretched thin. Once cleared, she found herself in a long, sterile hallway leading to a reception area. A woman in uniform sat behind the desk, her expression neutral but observant.

Savannah approached cautiously "Hello, I had called yesterday about meeting one of the inmates."

The receptionist nodded and slid a form across the desk. "Fill this out, please?"

Taking the pen, Savannah started to fill in the details, her hands trembling just a bit. Once she was done, she handed the form back. The receptionist quickly scanned it, but then her expression shifted. Her eyes darted between the form and Savannah, confusion written all over her face.

Savannah furrowed her brow. "Is something wrong?"

The receptionist paused, glancing at the paper again before locking eyes with Savannah, looking puzzled. After a deep breath, she said, "I'm sorry, but the person you're looking for isn't here."

Savannah felt a lump form in her throat. "What? That can't be right. I was told—"

"I'm sorry, but there's no record of this inmate being here," the receptionist replied, her voice steady yet cautious.

Savannah's heart raced in her chest. If he wasn't here, then where on earth could he be?
