I idly watched as Bellatrix paced from one side of the room to the other, impatience showing through her expression.
"Gah!" The black-haired girl echoed out, idly waving her wand carelessly. "I am in year two, I should be downstairs with them!" She turned a dismissive look towards her sisters, before zeroing onto me. "Not babysitting little gremlins!"
I idly waved my hand through Regulus's hair, earning an appreciative sigh from the two-year-old. "Gremlins? That's muggle." I remarked, idly pulling on the restrictive cuff-scarf around my neck.
Apparently, it was supposed to help with something.
To no avail, the cloth didn't seem to budge.
I was going to burn it to ashes when I finally get my wand.
Freaking useless headwear.
"Huh!?" Bellatrix, offended, promptly snapped towards me.
"Gremlins," I repeated. "It's the name of a muggle movie," I added on, tilting my head the slightest. "Or at least it will be."
Bellatrix shared a brief look with Andromeda before scoffing as she turned away.
"Whatever, freakin' weirdo." She paused. "How do you even know that?" She questioned, tilting her gaze towards me again.
I shrugged in response, earning a twitch from the girl.
"I don't know what the big deal is," I added on, idly loosening the grip around Regulus at his fussing. "You're in the better company here." I paused again. "Smarter anyway."
Andromeda let out a giggle at my words, while Narcissa favoured an affronted look.
"Smarter?" Bellatrix smiled, crossing her hands. "Are you calling the rest of our family stupid?"
I nodded without a missed beat.
"Well, most of them anyway," I added on idly waving a four-year-old hand.
"Hmm." Bellatrix smile didn't let up. "I wonder what they'd think if they heard you?" She questioned, pointing a finger towards me.
I shrugged again.
"Considering the company they surround themselves with, I am not too worried about their opinions." I finished.
Narcissa's bemusement quickly painted itself on her seven-year-old face as she whispered something towards Andromeda. I kept my attention on Bellatrix however.
"You know a lotta words for your age." She drawled. "Doesn't make you smart though."
"Jealous?" I grinned towards her, earning a twitch in her expression.
She scoffed at me again. "You're lucky you're the heir, you know that?"
I nodded to her annoyance.
"Of course. Unlike you, I don't have to marry a corpse."
Silence quickly filled the room as the other two girls promptly turned towards me, surprised.
Bellatrix narrowed her eyes at me for a moment, the wand in her hand twitching before to my surprise she let out another scoff and continued pacing.
"If you want," I added on. "I could end that arrangement for you."
She froze on her footsteps again, this time turning a bemused look towards me.
"You?" She scoffed. "What the hell could you do about it?"
I idly swept my hand through Regulus's hair again to his delight.
"A lot... Once father starts taking me seriously." I shrugged. "He still thinks I am just crazy."
"You are." Bellatrix didn't waste a beat. "Especially if you think you can do anything about my betrothal to the Lestranges."
"Hm."
She twitched again.
"Why would you even care anyway?" She added on. "My marriage is supposed to help you, idiot."
I locked eyes with her, tilting my head.
"Why would I need their help?" I paused again. "They're all worthless."
A myriad of expressions filtered through my cousin's face at that before, to my surprise, she promptly walked up towards me, and grabbed me by the scruff of my scarf, causing Regulus to start whining. "Listen here you stupid brat... You can'tsay that around them. Or anyone else besides us, you got it?" She let go of my scarf.
I didn't waver.
"Why?" I questioned innocently. "What do I have to be afraid of?" And before Bellatrix could answer, I turned back towards Regulus, smiling in delight at him. "They're all walking corpses, aren't they little brother?"
His excited gurgle said a lot.
"You're gonna die a horrible death, you know that?" Bellatrix deadpanned towards me.
I looked back up, smiling at her.
"Maybe, but not before them."
For some reason, maybe the look in my eyes? Or the surety of my tone? Regardless, for some reason, that freaked her out the slighest bit.
"...You're awfully sure of that..."
Before she could even ask me why, or how I knew, I obliged her.
"They're purebloods... Right?"
She nodded warily, her gaze turning between me and her sisters briefly.
"They're looking for a revolution... Looking to put our blood on a pedestal." I paused, looking away from Bellatrix.
"What's wrong with that?" She grouched, a warning tone to her voice as she crossed her arms around her chest.
"Silly girl..." I answered, earning a brief moment of anger from her as her hand visually twitched, no doubt wanting to either curse or slap me. "Our blood... Well, Our family at any rate... Already is." I looked back up towards her. "They just want a place at our table."
Clear indecision, and a hint of confusion filtered through the girl's face at that.
"And you don't want to share?"
"Would you?"
She chose not to answer that one.
"Regardless, they're destined for an early grave." I shrugged, continuing. "Whether by me or the half-blood they follow." I paused again, tilting my head. "Or willfollow anyway."
"...You're insane." The girl scoffed, shaking her head. Though, from the tone of her voice, she didn't sound fully convinced herself.
"Doesn't mean I am wrong."
