Just as Liu Man extended her hand toward Chen Chong, a commotion arose outside the door. Everyone turned to look outside, only to see a person walk in, followed by a group of police officers.
Seeing the police burst in, everyone in the room became agitated, clustering together and engaged in fervent discussion.
Lin Jingyun walked up to Chen Chong, and the two exchanged smiles as if they had known each other for many years.
"What took you so long?" Chen Chong reached out and gave Lin Jingyun a gentle pat on the chest as he said.
"Got held up on the way, I arrived late," Lin Jingyun said with a smile.
Liu Man instinctively took a step back, a flash of horror crossing her eyes as she looked at the man before her. She reached out, attempting to cover her face. Observing the strikingly handsome man while looking at her own worn and aged appearance, Liu Man wanted to hide herself away.
She didn't want to present herself before him, especially not in such an ugly state.
