This single, co-written by Link and Taylor, topped the charts in 24 countries and regions including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, and Hungary within weeks of its release, and maintained the number one spot for six weeks and the runner-up position for eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
The single sold 6.2 million copies in the United States within the first month of release, surpassing the year's previous best-selling single "Happy", and is likely to become a 'diamond single'.
With the promotional single becoming a huge hit, "1989" was soon to hit the shelves, and Taylor began promotions everywhere, her schedule packed, leaving no time to stay home with the kids and the responsibility of taking care of Alexander and Cynthia fell into Link's hands.
