The senior referees were already inching towards Rindou, trying to calm down the chaotic scene.

I reluctantly handed my goofy Shimaenaga cap to Rindou and wrapped a white headband around my forehead. Blending in with the other Shimaenaga Guild members at the entrance, I prepared to step into the chaos of the upcoming event.
"So, who am I teaming up with?"
"There's a spot open on one team since someone dropped out."
Great, so I had to find my own team. I sighed, resigned to the task at hand. "I guess there's no other choice." Steeling myself, I began searching for a cavalry group short of one member.
Cavalry battles in our school are a four-person game: three support members and one rider. The tricky part? It's co-ed, which means I might end up working with someone I don't even know. That added an extra layer of awkwardness to the already absurd situation.
