The sound of knocking at the door was enough to rouse Astraya from her rest. It was late at night, and she wasn't expecting anyone to come and visit her... Especially at this hour. She got up, bringing a small handgun along with her just in case as she made her way toward the door to her apartment. It was a fairly upscale, nice apartment complex - but she lived alone, and she never wanted to be unprepared. Crouching a bit, she looked through the peep-hole to see her friend Rosaline on her phone texting furiously.

Bzzz, Bzzz

Astraya sighed and set her gun aside, unlocking the door without checking her phone to see what Rosaline had said. It was probably just something along the lines of 'Hey, open the door'...

"Hey girl, what's up?" Astraya said as she opened the door.

"Sorry for coming over so late. Did I wake you up?"

"No." Astraya said in a groggy voice, wiping the sleep from her eyes. "Come on in."

"Thanks."

Rosaline stepped in and took off her jacket, hanging it up nearby before looking her friend in the eye. Still incredibly groggy, Astraya closed the door, locked it, grabbed her handgun and went back to her bedroom. She set the firearm back in the biometric safe and shut the door to it, before returning to the living room to see Astraya standing there.

"So what's the matter?"

"Well, I found this thing a few days ago and... It was a human."

"A human?" Astraya scoffed, walking over to her couch to flop back down. "What do you mean you found a human? Aren't they only in those upscale regions?"

"Well..." Rosaline shyly said, "I sorta stepped on him."

"They're bugs. Now that I think about it, I might have squished one on accident recently too."

"I didn't do it on accident though."

"Ahaha!" Astraya chuckled, sitting up on the couch. "Remember that gross bug you found the last time you were here? I wanted to squash it and you forbid me. You're telling me you purposefully stepped on a human after that?"

"Well... I really liked doing it, but that's not why I'm here."

"So why are you here?"

Without saying another word, the Saurous reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny plastic container hardly large enough to hold a ring inside of it. She walked over to her friend on the couch and sat down next to her, then held up the little container so that Astraya could see the man inside. He was naked and aroused with long blue hair, laying in the corner from being rattled around through the entire trip here. Astraya was about to make a remark about not needing to wake her up at 2am to show her a neat bug, but she was stifled by her friend speaking up first.

"This is the same one I crushed."

"What? How do you know?"

"Well, here..."

With her other hand, Rosaline navigated through her phone to the picture she took that night of her paw. Mathew had indeed stuck around for her entire walk home, and while the tiny human 'bug' was crushed to a nearly unrecognizable pelt of skin and blue hair, you could still easily make out the tattoos on his shoulders. Astraya looked at the crushed body on her friend's paw closely, then to the human trapped in the little container.

"Alright..." Astraya said, "I do have to say the resemblance is pretty uncanny. But uh... I guess we can do an experiment and see if he really is coming back to us."

"What sort of experiment?"

"I could crush him this time, and if he comes back again, we know he's the real deal?"

"Oh... That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea."

"Alright then." Astraya said as she took the little container from her friend and walked over toward the wall.

She opened up the container and knelt down, turning it over so that Mathew would fall to the floor below. She then stood up, her paws directly in front of the little one. Rosaline came over and crouched with her phone out so she could get a better view of what was happening. She expected the human to get up and run away, but he wasn't... He was just laying there looking up to her friend who chuckled down to him.

"Why isn't he running?"

"It's a bug. Probably too stupid to understand what's about to happen to him." Astraya scoffed. "After this I really should get to sleep. You're welcome to stay on the couch tonight if you'd like."

"As long as i'm not a bother."

Just then, Astraya lifted her right paw over the little one and casually set it down on him. Mathew felt the air evacuate from his lungs, forcing him to grunt as she held her paw on his body for a second. She slowly rubbed him into the ground, back and forth gently enough to arouse the little one beneath her paw before she gave him a sharp jolt of pressure. It was loud enough that Rose could hear his bones break... As she lifted her paw up from the ground, he came with her. Immediately though, he fell back to the ground with a light thud. The only blood Rose could see was from his eyes, ears, and nose as her friend stepped back down on him with a sickening little 'squelch'.

She hesitated for a few seconds on the little bug beneath her foot before walking off toward the little entry section to her apartment to turn off the light there. She turned around, walked back to her friend as Rose sat down on the couch.

"There."

"Aren't you going to clean him off?" Rose asked.

"Too tired, don't care." Astraya replied. She went off to a nearby closet to get a spare blanket and pillow then returned, setting them on the edge of the couch for Rose. "See ya in the morning, sis."

Sleep well...
