As Daji tells it, Gram and Gramps' first day running the Wendigo Inn in the late 1960s did not go smoothly. She tells it from memory the way Gramps told her, including from the first person point of view, strangely enough.
Gramps had at least three weeks of instructions and coaching from his parents, my great-grandparents. Heimdall "Hal" and Eunice Thomas shocked college-age James by saying he was not going to re-enlist in the Army because he had to take over the family business in the Central Valley.
