Adriel fumbled with the door code, his fingers pressing the wrong digits twice in quick succession. He cursed under his breath, his thumb pausing against the cool surface of the keypad.
His heart sprinted like a racehorse. After all his shameless jokes, now that it came to the real thing, he was all over the place.
The door beeped on the third attempt, and Adriel hurried to pull it open, almost too relieved to even register the sound.
He busied himself with pulling off his coat and kicking off his boots, acting nonchalant despite listening to Ein moving behind him.
The sound of a zipper opening, followed by a deep breath and a struggling sigh.
The first thought Adriel had was that Ein somehow managed to reinjure himself in the last ten seconds. But when he whirled around, the man was just trying to untangle his scarf from the zipper.
Relieved to have something to distract himself with, Adriel took over. "It's stuck?"
Ein hummed, watching him. Staring. So much.
