"Is she another adventurer who took on the commission? Is she planning to take down this poisonous dragon?" Gin thought as he observed the elven girl.
The elven girl, dressed in a black and yellow leather battle skirt, possessed an exceptional beauty that stood out even in this world full of handsome men and beautiful women.
Initially, Gin had planned to leave—not because he lacked the courage to challenge the poisonous dragon, but because he didn't want to be tricked.
He had intended to go to the local village to report the situation and negotiate a higher reward. Without additional payment, he wasn't willing to do the work for free.
However, seeing a competitor appear changed his mind.
The location of the poisonous dragon was much farther than the previous underground labyrinth. It had taken Gin two full days to reach the area, and nearly half a day to find the dragon using the map.
Considering that he had cleared the underground labyrinth in less than half a day, he didn't want to waste this much time only to leave empty-handed. If the elven girl defeated the dragon before he could negotiate with the village, he would miss out on the reward.
Thinking of this, Gin decided to stay. He was concerned about his prey being taken, and he was also curious to see the strength of this world's true experts.
Rex's level of skill was not something Gin considered as representing this world's strength. As for the orange-haired elven girl... he couldn't yet judge her capabilities.
However, her willingness to challenge the massive dragon alone showed she had confidence in her abilities.
"Roar——————!"
The dragon's angry roar interrupted Gin's thoughts as the elven girl, holding her sword, launched her attack.
As an elf, the girl naturally used magic, and her skills were quite remarkable. She even seemed to have mastered some elven secret arts. Her swordsmanship, in Gin's eyes, was commendable. In terms of combat power, she could easily handle ten or twenty Rexes.
The poisonous dragon was, as Gin had initially suspected, not a pure dragon but a subspecies. Much like how half-orcs are a subspecies of orcs, this dragon seemed to be a crossbreed.
However, any creature with dragon blood was not to be underestimated.
The elven girl's skills were impressive. She used her agility to dodge the dragon's attacks and left numerous wounds on its body with her sword.
However, being called a "poisonous dragon," it had abilities beyond the strong physique and tough scales of its dragon lineage.
When fully provoked by the elven girl, the dragon started using its ultimate attack.
Large amounts of corrosive purple poison gas spewed from the dragon's mouth, quickly enveloping an area of several kilometers. The surrounding grass and trees withered almost instantly upon contact with the poison, turning the lush plains into a barren wasteland.
The elven girl, being the primary target, immediately formed a protective barrier using her magic to defend herself from the poisonous gas.
To her shock, the corrosive nature of the gas was so strong that it began to eat away at her magic barrier. Having already expended a lot of her mana in the fight, including using flight magic, she couldn't sustain her barrier for long.
The dragon's poison gas was highly corrosive. Seeing the plants wither instantly indicated the deadly effect it would have on exposed flesh. The gas lingered, forcing the elven girl to continually expend mana to maintain her barrier, which was rapidly depleting her resources.
Despite being a subspecies, the dragon's immense size was not merely for show. Its magical power was equally formidable.
The dragon, with its high intelligence, had not used its ultimate attack initially, choosing instead to wear down the elven girl's mana. Now, with her resources nearly exhausted, the dragon ensured she had no escape.
The situation made it clear that the elven girl was facing defeat. The poison gas covered several kilometers, making escape difficult. Additionally, she had to guard against the dragon's attacks.
Her mana running out, the protective barrier around her body grew thinner, even starting to corrode her clothing, exposing patches of her fair skin.
Worse still, the poison gas's corrosive effect, while defendable by the barrier, affected her respiratory system. In the heat of battle, she had inhaled a lot of the poisonous gas, and now her mind was becoming foggy and disoriented.
"Was it too reckless to challenge the poisonous dragon alone? It seems this is the end for me," thought Suiruzu Kirarze Gulan Elerialgranze, feeling the onset of despair.
"Seriously, if you're not strong enough, don't try to steal my prey. This dragon is mine," Gin's voice broke through her thoughts.
The poisonous dragon, despite its intelligence, couldn't speak. The only possible source of the voice was another person besides her and the dragon.
Opening her eyes, Suiruzu Kirarze Gulan Elerialgranze saw a white-haired man standing in front of her.
