Forest of Obscurity

Namer University

Academia City, Namer Island

Eighteen years after Hailey Incident

"Well, that didn't go as I thought it would," Professor Wingram said. He and Ayden, his aide, had been watching the fight between Eren Walker and the Hero candidate, and Wingram couldn't help but be astonished by what he had seen. He had been quick to judge Eren as the weakest of the first years just because the soul scanner couldn't read most of his data and had placed no hope on him due to his lack of status but the boy had quickly thrown all of Wingram's assumption off the table. For Eren to only be at the third tier of the Intermediate realm, and to be able to dominate people of higher realm than him, spoke volumes about his talents and skills. It was well known that for a cultivator to be able to fight above their realm said a lot about the quality and potency of their cultivation power. Normally in each cultivation realm, the higher the realm one reached, the more the gap between those of the high realm and low realm increased especially in the later phases of cultivation. Cultivation had three stages to it. Each of those stages had their own realm that was divided into tiers. The first stage known as the Mortal stage was the stage in which Eren Walker was in. This stage had four realms which were Novice realm, Intermediate realm, Advance realm and lastly the Superior realm. The Superior realm was the peak of the mortal stage, the realm most Mages and Mana warriors in the world dream of reaching, and most never do. Wingram could just imagine what kind of monster Eren Walker could become if he should ever reach the Superior realm.

He would be able to challenge those of the higher stage, Wingram thought to himself. The second and third stage was were the gods and monsters of the world belong to. It was a stage that Wingram had dreamt of reaching but unfortunately for him, ever since he broke into the Superior Realm, he had reached a bottleneck that he could not break through. As such he had ben trapped as a Mortal and he could feel his lifespan dwindling. As Professor Wingram thought about his life and the situation he faced, unknown to him and the students taking the evaluation, above the forest, within the clouds, were two individuals observing the evaluation that was happening. Each of this individuals had suppressed the pressure that came from their presence, making it impossible for anyone to notice them. But even with such an act, there was still an aura of regality and authority that easily oozed out of them. Aguero Agni Kazhan had an eyebrow raised at the showdown between Reo and Eren. He had been impressed that Reo's opponent had been able to see through his sword skills, something that should not be possible for someone at the low tier of the intermediate rank. Aguero was very familiar with Reo's sword art after all as his Master, it had been him responsible for helping him refine the Sword technique.

"That kid sure is impressive, going toe to toe with the Hero candidate," Aguero said to Alexander Kinsway, the other individual observing the evaluation.

"Hmm, sure," Lexa said. He's weaker than I thought. Lexa, the Sword king, was not impressed by Eren's actions against Reo. As a fellow Irregular, when she was his, her power was greater than what he was displaying. Of course there were external circumstances that Lexa had to consider which was why she was still interested to get to know this unknown Irregular that had come out of nowhere. Observing the Sword king, Aguero couldn't help but sigh.

"I still can't believe you chose to become an instructor," Aguero said. "I guess being a Division Commander was too boring."

"And I can't believe the Hero candidate is attending Namer," Lexa said. "As his Master, aren't you responsible for his education."

"I see no problem with my student attending Namer," Aguero said. "This is just another stage of his development."

"And is purposely holding back his advancement a part of his development," Lexa said.

"So you noticed it," Aguero said.

"Yes, it's very obvious," Lexa said. With her internal sense, she had picked up on the strangeness of Reo's cores. "Your student's cores are fully saturated with spirit essence. It should be breaking through to the next rank. And yet he is still an Intermediate. What game are you playing at, Kazhan?"

"Like I said, it is all part of his development," Aguero said.

"Hmm, you intend for him to win the Hero challenge," Lexa said.

"I want him to survive," Aguero said. "He is a dear student of mine. Maybe now that you're a teacher, you might understand my position," Lexa's face morphed into a frown as she disregarded the idea of being a mentor to anyone. The whole reason she had taken the instructor position was her curiosity about Eren Walker. Lexa was bored, and when she was bored, she needed something to distract her from her boring life. Eren Walker and the mystery surrounding him were perfect for her entertainment. She turned around losing interest in continuing to stay here. With one step, Lexa left the sky and appeared in another part of the Academy grounds. This part of the school belonged to the faculty, and Lexa had been given a whole building for herself. The building was a three-story floor mansion, with a beautiful colored garden in the courtyard. There was also a water fountain in the middle of the yard. Waiting by the fountain was a gunmetal colored hair, and crimson eyes, in a dark blue and black colored uniform.

"So what do you think," Reyna Greyron said. Lexa walked past her, yawning as the door opened for her. Rey followed the Sword King inside the Mansion, where they ended up in one of the study rooms. Lexa took a seat by the fireplace, where the fire was lit, warming the room. Rey sat beside her, trying to guess what her commander was thinking.

"I didn't see any sign of that power you showed me," Lexa said.

"You saw my memory fragment of the event," Rey said. "Do you think I was wrong,"

"Nah!" Lexa said.

"Hmm! Everything about him makes no sense," Rey said. "A seventh Irregular that came out of nowhere and for some reason, he has some connection with the Star king. Do you think it was a coincidence that Master Alastor discovered him after the break in at the Star Library.?"

"Coincidence. I don't believe in it." Lexa said.

"Do you think he's dead...The Star King," Rey said. "It would explain why the seal on the Star Library was finally weak enough to be broken through."

"I doubt it," Lexa said. "From what I know the Star King was one of the most powerful Mage in the world. He was in the top five before I was born. There's not many things in this world that should have been able to kill him."

"It's been eighteen years since the Hailey Incident," Rey said. "Since the Star King's disappearance. The anniversary of the incident is next month. Next month, Eren Walker becomes eighteen years old."

"Did you look into the staffs of the orphanage," Lexa asked.

"Yes, most of them are just your typical believers. Nuns from the church assigned to the orphanage." Rey said. "But something else drew my attention. The Director of the orphanage, Mother Ruth Vanakar. She was a former Saint class Hunter with a pretty good record. A Superior realm Mage. But then she quit being a Hunter, became ordained by the church, and was assigned to the Nation of Haumea as her post."

"That last name sounds familiar," Lexa said.

"Yes, the Vanakar family was once a Great minor Manaborn family that was almost driven to ruin sixty years ago." Rey said. "The family was saved by...."

"The Zangretus family which was ruled by the former star King back then," Lexa completed it for Rey. Zangretus family. Star King. Star Library. And a seventh unknown Irregular. How was all this connected? Rey opened her mouth to say something but then she paused as she studied Lexa's expression.

"I may not be as close to you as I am with Master Alastor, but I can still tell something is bothering you," Rey said. She could tell that Lexa was thinking about something important because for one, she didn't have that boredom expression she always had on.

"I was thinking about that Eren Walker," Lexa said. Lexa sat further on her chair, bringing her knee up to her chin as she thought back to the fights Eren Walker had been involved with in the forest.

"What about him," Rey said.

"There was something about him that bothers me," Lexa said. "I wonder what he was feeling when he was fighting." Lexa had seen the strange unknown expression on Eren's face, and it was something that had baffled her. She hadn't been able to understand what kind of emotions were behind those eyes of Eren and she still couldn't no matter how she thought of it. This made Lexa feel a certain kind of way. I'm glad I accepted this teaching gig. It seems something interesting might be here after all.
