Candles placed on ornate candelabras burned steadily, their flames standing straight as if even the air inside refused to disturb this sacred space.
The room was immaculate. It was clear that great care was taken to keep it spotless—no dust, no imperfections. As expected of a place so revered, everything was in perfect order.
Rusty turned toward Wataru, gesturing toward a chair near the center of the room.
"Please mind your step, Wataru. It's a bit dark in here."
"Thank you. And… no windows, I see."
"We cannot be too careful. There's always someone unscrupulous, willing to spy on or steal the holy mysteries, no matter how closely the gods watch. Precautions are necessary."
Wataru nodded, his back straightening instinctively. The weight of being allowed into such a sanctified place settled on his shoulders.
