He became persistent, and so did she, with her own thoughts and principles. She tried to pass the bracelet back to him, but he pushed it back into her hands.
He resolutely stood up, not wanting to hear any more words of rejection. Sophia instinctively leaned forward, but she lost her grip on the bracelet, and with a thud, it fell to the ground.
He stood there, his head hung low, as if even his breath had stopped.
