Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Training Gone Wrong

Celia's POV

I woke up late, and everyone was already at the table having breakfast. I ran down the stairs. When I reached the table, I was panting hard. Everyone started laughing at me except Dylria. That meant so much to me that I decided to sit near her instead of sitting near Mother.

During breakfast, we discussed so many things, and Dylria said she would teach me how to use my wind magic, since that's the magical attribute she possesses.

After breakfast, we went off to our various activities. I loved dad so much because instead of teaching me how to eat like a princess, walk like one, or dress like one, he trained me to defend myself even without my bodyguards.

I went to the training ground, where my father was to train me today, since my fire magic instructor, Mr. Lance, couldn't make it. Today, I was going to have a fight with him not to harm or kill, just to train. Dylria said she would come and watch. I was sure we'd have many spectators, so I needed to give it my best.

Father took his sword, and I took mine. Mine was lighter than his. He handed me this sword, saying, "You're a girl."

Dad swung his sword so fast I couldn't read his movements. Afterward, I would ask him to teach me how he did that. I had to clear my mind and focus.

I dodged while trying to find a sensible opening where I could land a hit. Suddenly, a strong wind blew past us. The next thing I saw was Dad lying on the ground. The guards quickly carried him away.

I knew there was more to this. How could a small blow to his arm make him collapse?

Then realization hit me. I remembered Dylria telling me she would teach me how to use my wind magic could it be her ?. I shook my head this wasn't the time for that.

I threw my sword in the air and ran to the room where the guards had taken my father. When I entered, the royal doctor was already there. Mom was scattered in tears.

After a thorough check-up, the doctor said my father was unconscious and had been hit on the head.

Dr. Wang called me over. I stepped closer, and he asked,

"Why would you strike your own father on the head?"

I was about to explain myself, but he stopped me.

"Listen, next time you do that, forget about your father. You'll be an orphan," he said as he picked up his bag and walked out.

Then my mother stood up, wiped her tears, and said,

"Celia, just because I love you doesn't mean you should make me a widow. Please, please, please. Without my husband—your father—I'm nothing."

Tears brimmed in my eyes. I ran out of the room, unable to hold them back. I rushed to my room, bumping into several people along the way. I didn't have the time or the courage to say sorry.

Once inside, I locked the door and sat down, leaning my back against it. I cried and whispered,

"How could they accuse me? I don't even know what happened myself. I remember the strong wind... and the small blow I gave to his arm."

Dr. Wang said it was a blow to the head. But I hit his arm!

What hurts me the most is that they didn't give me a chance to explain myself.
