Chapter 3 - DONT PUT YOUR TRUST IN 100%

49 CHAPTER:49 I CANNOT WAIT

Curious and slightly confused, Kofigee hurried over to the garage. When he arrived, sister Mensah handed him a key and smiled warmly. Go on , open the garage and see for yourself.

What a mix of anticipation and puzzlement, Kofigee unlocked the door and pulled it open. His jaw dropped the moment his eye's landed on the sleek , polished Toyota Land Cruiser parked inside it gleamed under the light , a symbol of luxury and power.

Mom! This is beautiful! Kofigee exclaimed, stepping closer to admire the car when did you get this ? How come I didn't see it earlier?

Sister Mensah chuckled, her eyes twinkling. I bought it a while ago, but I wanted to keep it a surprise until the the right moment. And this is the moment.

Sister Mensah placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice filled with affection. Kofigee, I want you to drive this car to your mom's house and spend the next two weeks with her, you deserve to enjoy these wonderful moments with your family and with Ama before you leave for the states . This is my gift to you

Kofigee was overwhelmed with gratitude. Mom, I don't even know what to say. Thank you so much . This means everything to me.

You have worked hard and stayed humble, Kofigee, sister Mensah said, beaming with pride. You have earned this . And remember, whenever life takes you. Your family here will always be rooting for you

Kofigee nodded , his eyes glistening with emotion. He couldn't wait to drive the Land Cruiser to his mom's house where he planned to surprise her and Ama with the news of his visa and his impending journey. These two weeks were going to be unforgettable, a time to cherish before he embarked on a new chapter of his life.

That evening, Kofigee took the Toyota Land Cruiser and drove off to his grandparents house. The journey was filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. As he approached the compound, the headlights lit up the grand gates, and with a soft honk , the gatekeeper swung them open.

Inside the compound, his grandparents, Grandpa Dankwa and Grandma Abena, sat on the veranda enjoying the cool evening breeze. They watched curiously as the sleek Land Cruiser pulled in and parked neatly in the driveway. Even Kofigee's mother, who was sitting nearby, had momentarily forgotten sister Mensah's words about her new car .

As Kofigee stepped out of the car, the entire family froze in surprise. His mother was the first to reach out , her eyes widening as she rushed toward him.

Kofigee! Is this really you? She exclaimed, her gaze shifting from her son to the car and back .

Yes mama , it's me , Kofigee replied with a wide smile, opening his arms for a warm hug.

His grandparents slowly walked toward him their face lit up with curiosity. Grandpa Dankwa, with his walking stick in hand, chuckled. Ei , Kofigee this is your car? How come you never told us?

Kofigee laughed. No Grandpa, it's not mine . Sister Mensah gave it to me to used for these two weeks before I leave for the United States.

The mention of traveling caught everyone's attention. Grandma Abena gasped, the United States? Kofigee, what are you talking about?

Later that evening, after dinner, Kofigee sat with his grandparents in the living room. The soft glow of the lamp lit the space giving it a warm , cozy feel . Kofigee explained everything in detail how his boss , Mr Babatunde, had worked on their documents, the invitation was from his his girlfriend Fatima who was based in the states , her plans was for me and my boss to come and future our education there in the United States.

As Kofigee spoke, his grandparents listened intently. Grandpa Dankwa stroked his chin throughly, pride evident in his eyes while Grandma Abena occasionally nodded and smiled.

When Kofigee finished, Grandpa Dankwa leaned back in his chair, his voice brimming with pride. Kofigee, this is wonderful news, you have made us proud.

I always knew you were destined for grate things.

Thanks you grandpa, Kofigee said his voice filled with gratitude.

Grandpa Dankwa smiled and tapped his walking stick on the floor lightly for emphasis. My grandson, for this , any time you need money no matter what just call on me . Don't hesitate. I want you to focus on your dreams without worrying about anything.

Kofigee's heart swelled with emotion. Thank you grandpa that means so much to me.

His mother, who had been listening quietly from the corner, added, we are all so proud of you, Kofigee. You are making this family's name shine.

That evening was filled with laughter and stories as the family celebrated Kofigee's upcoming journey. Thought a tinge of sadness, they were overjoyed at the opportunities that lay ahead for him. For kofigee, this moment of love and support from his family was a treasure he would carry with him as he prepared for the adventure of a lifetime.

The following morning, Kofigee decided to take the Toyota Land Cruiser to AMA's house. The excitement of seeing her and her family filled his chest as he navigated the streets, the car's powerful engine humming beneath him. He knew his arrival would surprise them all , especially Ama, and he couldn't wait to see the look on her face.

When he arrived at AMA's gate , he gave a gentle honk and waited moments later, Ama herself appeared to open the gate . At first glance she assumed it was one of her uncles visiting, as none of their usual guests ever drove such a luxurious car. She casually unlocked the gate. Ready to welcome whoever it was, but as soon as Kofigee stepped out of the carb, her eyes widened in disbelief.

Kofigee! Ama exclaimed, her voice a mix of shock and joy.

What are you doing here? And this your car?

Kofigee grinned as he walked over to her . Not exactly. It's sister Mensah's, but she gave it to me for the next two weeks. I thought I did come and see your beautiful face and your family.

Ama blinked, still processing the scene before her , you mean you drove this all the way here just to see me?

Kofigee chuckled, opening his arms. Of course you are worth more than this car , Ama I love you very much . With all my heart?

Her cheeks flushed as she smiled and hugged him tightly. You are something else, Kofigee come on let's go inside.

As they walked into the compound, AMA's family began to gather, curious about the visitor and the impressive vehicle parked outside. AMA's younger siblings peeked arround the corner, whispering excitedly. Her father stepped out onto the porch, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

AMA's father gave him a warm smile, motioning for him to sit . Not at all, young man. You are always welcome here. But tell me whose car is that outside? It's quiet a beauty."

Kofigee explained the story of the car, how sister Mensah had lent it to him, and shared his plans to visit family and Ama before his big move to the United States. The family listened attentively, their expressions shifting from surprise to admiration.

When he finished, AMA's father nodded approvingly. You are a good young man, Kofigee. I have always like you for Ama . You have proven yourself to be hardworking, respectful, and now with this opportunity, I know you will go far .

Thank you, sir ". Kofigee said humbly. Your encouragement means a lot to me."

50 CHAPTER :50 THAT MOMENT

The family spent the morning together, chatting , laughing, and celebrating Kofigee's achievements, Ama couldn't take her eyes off him, her heart swelled with pride. Knowing the man she loved was not only kind and humble but also destined for grateness. For ama , Kofigee wasn't just her lover; he was her inspiration. And for kofigee, moments like these reminded him of why he was working so hard to make everyone he cared about proud.

When the clock struck noon , Kofigee gathered his courage and approached AMA's father, asking respectfully, sir if it's okay with you, I would like Ama to visit my grandparents' house for three days before I leave for the states.

AMA's father learned back back in his _chair with a playful smirk . Three days eh ? Well Kofigee if you want to take her , you know what you have to do first, come and pay her bride price ." His heart Laughter filled the room, and everyone joined in, including Ama , who blushed deeply.

Kofigee chuckled,bowing slightly.

I will, sir very soon, I promise. But for now, I will make sure she's safe and well taken care of.

AMA's father waved him off with a smile. Alright, you can go . But remember, my daughter is my treasure, Handel her with care care .

Kofigee nodded earnestly. I will sir. Thank you .

As they left the house, Ama walked beside Kofigee, her heart flettering with excitement. She couldn't believe she was about to spend three days with him and his family. Earlier that morning, Kofigee had already informed his mother of AMA's visit, keeping it as a surprise for his grandparents.

When they arrived at his grandparents house, the Land Cruiser pulled into the compound, drawing the attention of everyone inside. Kofigee's mother stepped out onto the porch smiling warmly as she saw them approach.

My daughter, Ama , you are welcome, she said opening her arms to hug Ama .its so good to see you.

Kofigee's mom looked her with a knowing smile. Do you know why you are here , my daughter?

Ama hesitated for a moment, then replied, I am here to visit the family.

Kofigee's mother chuckled softly and took her hand. Yes but there is more to it than that. My daughter kofi my son wants to engage you before he travels.

AMA's eyes widened in surprise, and her cheeks turned a deep shade of red. She glanced at Kofigee, who stood nearby with a nervous but hopeful expression.

Engage.....,me? Ama whispered, her voice barely audible.

Kofigee's mother nodded, her voice full of affection, yes my dear you have been such a blessing to him . He wants to make it official, to let the world know how much he values you. This is a big step, and it's one we are all happy about.

Ama looked at Kofigee, her heart swelling with emotion. His sincerity was written all over his face, and in that moment, she realized just how deeply he cared for her.

Kofigee stepped forward, taking, her hands gently in his . Ama , I don't want to leave for the states without giving you a sign of my commitment. You have been my rock , my source of happiness, and my inspiration.

I want you to know that no matter where I go you will always be in my heart.

Ama blinked back tears, nodded as a warm smile spread across her face. Kofigee you have always been there for me. I am so honored. Yes I will stand by you.

The family gathered around, beaming with joy as the couple shared this beautiful moment. Kofigee's grandparents, seeing their grandson take this significant step was a moment of pride and fulfillment. For Ama ,it was a day she would never forget it, a day that marked the beginning of a lifetime of love and devotion.

The next morning, Kofigee's grandparents, Grandpa Dankwa and Grandma Abena, decided to pay AMA's father a visit regarding their grandson's intentions to make Ama his bride . The entire family had taken the matter seriously, knowing how much Ama meant to Kofigee and how important it was to honor tradition. They dressed in their finest clothes, prepared a few gifts, and made their way to AMA's family house.

When they arrived, AMA's father was sitting on the veranda, sipping his morning tea. AMA's mother joined him, curious to see who their visitors were. As the Land Cruiser parked outside and Kofigee's grandparents stepped out, AMA's parent exchanged surprise glances.

Grandpa Dankwa and Grandma Abena!

What an honor, AMA's father greeted them warmly, rising to meet them. What brings you here this morning?

Grandpa Dankwa extended his hand with a smile. It's good to see you, my old friend. We come in peace and with good intentions. We did like to have a word with you about our grandson, Kofigee and your daughter, Ama .

AMA's father gestured for them to come sit, his curiosity piqued. Please come inside. Let's talk.

Once everyone was seated in the living room, the conversation began. Grandpa Dankwa spoke first, his tone respectful and deliberate. We are here today because our grandson kofi has expressed his desire to make Ama his wife. As his family. We fully support his decision and believe it's the right step for him.

Ama is a wonderful young woman, and we see her as a perfect match for him.

AMA's parents exchanged smiles, clearly pleased by the gesture.

AMA's father replied. This is unexpected, but let's also an honor. We have seen how Kofigee carries himself with respect, deligence , and a kind heart as a father, I couldn't ask for a better suitor for my daughter.

Grandma Abena leaned forward, adding, we have come today not only to express Kofigee's intention but also to begin the process of bride price. Negotiations, we want to do everything properly and according to tradition.

AMA's mother nodded in agreement. You have done well by coming it's always a blessing to see families coming together in such unity. We will make sure to involve the elders on both sides to ensure everything is done the right way.

The conversation continued for over an hour, with laughter and good, natured banter filling the room. Gifts were exchanged as a symbol of good will, and both families agreed on a date to formalize the engagement and discuss the bride price in detail. AMA's father expressed his satisfaction, saying, Kofigee is not just taking a wife; he is becoming a part of our family. We are very proud of this union.

As the meeting came to an end,Kofigee's grandparents left with a sense of fulfillment, knowing they had set the wheels in motion for their grandson's happiness. Back at home , when Kofigee heard about how smoothly everything had gone, he was overjoyed. He couldn't believe how quickly things were falling into place.

Ama, on the other hand, was both excited and nervous.she hadn't expected her relationship with kofi to move so quickly, but the love and support from families reassured her that this was the right path.

The stage was now set for an official engagement ceremony, and the entire family looked forward to the joyous event that would bring them even closer together.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement at the return of Mr Oluwole from Nigeria. The compound buzzed with chatter as he distributed gifts to everyone, his cheerful demeanor lighting up the room.

I missed you all so much, he said warmly, handing a beautifully wrapped parcel to small pepper. How is everyone doing? And more importantly, how is our son Kofigee?

Small pepper smiled , unwrapping a new wristwatch. Kofigee is doing fine, sir . But he's not here at the moment.

Mr Oluwole's brows furrowed slightly. Where is he ?

Sister Mensah, chuckled softly. He went to visit his mom, you know how he is about family.

Ooh, I see , Mr Oluwole said with a knowing smile. That's lovely . I am glad he's keeping those ties strong . As the conversation continued, sister Mensah's phone buzzed in her pocket. Glancing at the screen, she saw Kofigee's name flashing and quickly answered .

Hello , my son ! She greeted cheerfully.

Mom , I have some big news. Kofigee said , his voice brimming with excitement I have just taken a big step, I have officially asked Ama to marry me, and she said yes!

Sister Mensah gasped with joy. Oh Kofigee, that's wonderful! Congratulations I am so proud of you.

Thank you , mom , Kofigee continued l am planning a small engagement ceremony this Friday, and I'm inviting the whole family to come and support me . Please I did like you to be there. Of course, my son I wouldn't miss it for anything, sister Mensah assure him.

Thank you mom .And please ask Bra Kwame to pick you up. I want everyone there to share in this moment

Consider it done, sister Mensah said warmly. You have made me so happy, Kofigee. I will spread the word to everyone.

As she hung up the phone, her face glowed with pride . Turning to Mr Oluwole and the rest of the group, she announced the news , Kofigee is getting engaged to Ama this Friday! He's invited all of us to be there to support him.

The room erupted into cheers and congratulations. Mr Oluwole clapped his hands together. That's fantastic news! Our son is becoming a man, I can't wait to be there and celebrate with him.

The joy in the room was contagious as everyone began discussing plans for the upcoming event. Small pepper joked about what outfit to wear, while Bra Kwame silently made a mental note to clear his schedule.

Kofigee's engagement was not just a milestone for him, it was a moment of pride for the entire family, a testament to the bonds they had built over time . Friday couldn't come soon enough.

Kofigee knew this engagement wasn't just about him and Ama it was a celebration of the people who had supported him every step of the way,to make the day even more special, he sent out a special invitation to madam Fati, and he sent another special invitation to his boss Mr Babatunde, with a heartfelt request.

When Mr Babatunde received the call , he answered with his usual warm tone, Kofigee my boy ! How are the preparations going?

Kofigee's voice was steady but full of emotion. Boss , I wanted to ask you for something very important.

Of course, anything ! What do you need? Babatunde replied.

Sir , I would be honored if you would be my best man on my engagement day , Kofigee said his sincerity evident

51 CHAPTER:51 THE SURPRISE PACKAGE

There was a moment of silence on the line before Babatunde responded, his voice trembling with emotion. Kofigee...you want me to be your best man?

Yes boss , you have been more than just a boss to me , you have been a mentor, a brother and a friend. I can't think of anyone better for the role, Kofigee said

Tears welled up in Mr Babatunde's eyes, and he let them fall freely. My boy , you have humble me . I will gladly be your best man . Thank you for this honor .

Hearing the emotion in his boss's voice, Kofigee smiled. Thank you sir , it means the world to me.

Meanwhile, Kofigee had also entrusted Bra Kwame with an important role; giving a speech at the engagement. When he informed Bra Kwame , the older man was both proud and nervous.

Kofigee, you know I am not much of a public speaker,

Bra Kwame chuckled.

Bra Kwame Nobody knows me and Ama better than you . Kofigee said your words will mean a lot to us . Just speak from your heart,

Bra Kwame nodded, his heart swelling with pride. Alright, my boy I will do my best.

Finally. Kofigee had a special request for Mr Oluwole. During their conversation, Kofigee said uncle Oluwole, there's something I did love for you to do at the engagement.

What is it , my son? Mr Oluwole asked, intrigued.

I know how much you love singing in Yoruba and I love Yoruba music. Would you sing something for us on that day? Kofigee asked eagerly.

Mr Oluwole's face lit up with joy. Ah, my son, it would be my pleasure; I will make sure to prepare something special for you and Ama.

With all the plans falling into place the engagement day promised to be a celebration filled with love, gratitude and unforgettable memories. Kofigee had woven together the people he cherished most , meaningful role in the start of his new chapter in his life.

The tension in the room was palpable as Kofigee late father's sisters and brothers arrived at Grandpa Dankwa's house just two days before the engagement. Their faces were stern , and their intent was clear, they had come to stir trouble. Kofigee's mother stood in a corner, her face pale with anxiety, as she knew the history behind this unexpected visit.

Grandpa Dankwa, seated in his favorite armchair, motioned for everyone to speak. His calm but imposing demeanor demanded respect.

One of the aunts, a woman named Aunt Akosua , stepped forward, her voice sharp and accusatory we have come to take Kofigee away from this family. He is our blood, and we cannot allow him to remain here. It is because of his mother that our brother, his father, is no longer with us. She brought nothing but pain and misfortune to our family.

Her words cut through the air like knife, and amurmur of agreement spread among her siblings they nodded, their faces hardened with resentment. Kofigee stood up slowly, his clam exterior masking the storm of emotion brewing inside him.

He cleared his throat, his voice firm and steady. With all due respect, I will not allow you to come here and ruin this joyous moment of my life. You claim to be my family yet where were you when my mother was struggling, when she faced humiliation, and when she had to rebuild her life from nothing? You abandoned us.

His words hung heavily in the air silencing the room. Aunt Akosua tried to interject, but kofigee raised a hand to stop her.

You accuse my mother of bringing misfortune, yet you were the ones who pushed her into despair. Your hatred and neglect drove her to a point of madness. Despite everything, she rose above it and raised me to be the man I am today I owe you nothing, not my loyalty, not my presence , and certainly not my love.

Grandpa Dankwa leaned forward his voice low but commanding you all come here with these baseless accusations after abandoning this boy and his mother for years. This family took them in , supported them, and gave them the love you refused to provide. If you think you can waltz in here and lay claim to kofi now , you are gravely mistaken.

The room fell silent again, but this time it was Kofigee's mother who stepped forward, her voice trembling but resolute. I have nothing to prove to any of you. I have carried this burden long enough, and I will not allow you to use my son as a pawn in your vendetta against me. Leave him out of it.

Kofigee turned to his relatives, his gaze unwavering. I don't belong to anyone but myself. My loyalty is to the people who stood by me, my mother, my Grandparents and that family that love me unconditionally. If you think you can come here to disrupt my engagement and my happiness, you are wrong I won't allow it.

Defeated, the late father's relatives exchanged uneasy glances. They had expected to intemidate kofigee and the Dankwa family but they had underestimated the unity and strength of the household. Aunt Akosua tried one last time. You will regret turning your back on your true family.

Kofigee stand tall . I have no regrets my true family is right here .

Grandpa Dankwa rose from his chair and pointed toward the door if you have nothing more to say leave this house now.

Reluctantly, Kofigee's late father's sisters and brothers filed out their pride wounded and their plans thwarted.

As the door closed behind them Kofigee's mother broke into tears, but this time they were tears of relief. She hugged her son tightly. You stood up for me, Kofigee, you have become a man I am so proud of.

Grandpa Dankwa placed a reassuring hand on Kofigee's shoulder you did well, my boy Now let us focus on the engagement. No one will ruin your happiness.

That evening, as the family gethered to unwind after the tense confrontation, Kofigee found a quiet corner and dialed Bra Kwame's number. The line picked up almost immediately.

Hello, my boy , Bra Kwame's warm voice came through. How is everything at the house?

Bra Kwame, I am fine, Kofigee said his voice clam but serious. I just wanted to talk to you about something important.

Kofigee hesitated for a moment before speaking. Bra Kwame, you know you have been more than a father figure to me, right? And very soon, I know you will officially become my father when you marry my mom."

Bra Kwame chuckled softly. Ah my boy , you don't miss anything, do you? But yes , that is my hope too, to become a proper father to you and a husband to your mother. Kofigee smiled, but his tone quickly turned serious again. There is something I need from you as my father to be.

Anything kofigee. Just say it Bra Kwame assured him

I need you to send a warning to my late father's sister, Kofigee said firmly. A strong massage telling them to stay away from my life , my house and especially my mother. After what happened today, I don't trust them . They can't be allowed to ruin our peace or try anything foolish again.

Bra Kwame was silent for a moment, digesting Kofigee's request. Then he spoke, his voice filled with resolve. Kofigee, you are right. What they did today was unacceptable. They have no right to disrupt your life or disrespect your mother.

I will draft the letter and make sure it will be clear that if they cross the line again, there will be consequences.

Kofigee let out a sign of relief thank you, Bra Kwame. I just want to protect my family and our happiness. I can't let them drag us into their bitterness.

Bra Kwame's voice softened. You have grown into a strong, wise young man, Kofigee. I am proud of you don't worry about this I will handle it myself.

Thank you Bra Kwame, Kofigee said , his voice filled with gratitude. You have always had my back. And I always will, my boy . Bra Kwame replied. Now go get some rest, you have an important day ahead , and nothing will spoil it not while I am around.

As Kofigee ended the call , he felt a wave of reassurance wash over him . With Bra Kwame standing by his side, he knew his family was protected. The engagement day would be free of drama, and the future he was building with Ama and his loved ones would remain undistirbed .

The evening air was cool, and the tension from earlier in the day seemed to dissipate as kofigee and Ama sat together under the soft glow of the veranda lights. Ama looked at him , her eyes sparkling with both love and a hint of mischief.

Kofigee." She said softly, leaning closer, don't worry too much about what happened earlier. Everything will be fine, I promise but she paused, her smile turning playful. You know I am leaving tomorrow, right?

Kofigee nodded , a small smile playing on his lips. I know, Ama . But you will always be here, he pointed to his chest where his heart best steadily.

Ama giggle and nudged him . Sweet talker . But before I leave, come take a shower with me , she said, her voice teasing but currying a serious undertone.

Kofigee burst out laughing, shaking his head Ama I know you want something.

Ama grinned, leaning closer. Yes I do . Let make love , Kofigee. All these few days you haven't touched me sure , you have kissed me, but she trailed off, her grin widening.

Kofigee couldn't help but laugh again. Look at you , my dear Ama , he said his tone tender . I want to spend my life with you. You are my heart, my everything

AMA's smile softened , and she looked at him with affection. Then why haven't you made love to me? Don't you trust me.?

Kofigee reached for her hand, holding it firmly but gently it's not about trust , my love I am keeping myself for you . Just for tomorrow. Be patient.

Ama tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. Tomorrow? What's happening tomorrow.

Kofigee leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper I have a big surprise for you and me . Something that will change everything.

Ama stared at him for a moment her smile returning as she leaned back with a playful pout , fine , fine , I will wait. But you better make it worth the wait kofigee.

Kofigee chuckled and kissed her hand . I promise, Ama you will see tomorrow. I love you my wife

AMA's cheeks turned a shade pinker as she laughed softly. I love you too. My husband

The two sat together for a while longer, savoring the peace of the moment and the excitement of the future ahead. Tomorrow was a new chapter. One that would solidify their love in a way either of them could imagined.

As the time came for Ama to leave for her parent's house, the atmosphere between her and Kofigee was filled with a mix of excitement and emotion. Kofigee had planned everything meticulously, ensuring that AMA's departure would be memorable and that she would feel love and cherished.

Earlier that day, Kofigee had tasked small pepper with delivering a surprise package to AMA's house, a beautiful engagement dress pained with a pair of shoes Ama had always admired and often talked about.

Small pepper, thrilled to be part of such a romantic gesture, carried out the task with enthusiasm, ensuring the surprise was ready and waiting for Ama when she arrived.

This thoughtful gift had been made possible by an inheritance kofigee received from the kind old woman he had one cared for.

Before her passing, she left a letter for kofigee along with a sum of money. The letter's words stayed with him.

My son , before you use this money for anything, make sure you get married. Use it to build a foundation of love and family and you will never Lack in life.

Kofigee held onto that promise, knowing that his relationship with Ama was the fulfillment of that blessing

As Kofigee and Ama stood outside her house, the moment was tender. This time, he didn't follow her inside as usually did , instead he stop at the gate , took her hands, and pulled her close.

Ama , he said softly, his voice steady but filled with emotion. This is where I leave you for now . But tomorrow, everything changes tomorrow, I make you mine forever.

Ama smiled , her eyes glistening with happiness Kofigee, you have already given me everything I could ever want. I trust you and I can't wait for tomorrow.

Without another word , Kofigee leaned in and gave her a deep lingering kiss. It was a kiss filled with love , promise, and anticipation for the future.

As they pulled away, Ama looked at him , her cheeks flushed. Go before I change my mind and refused to leave, she said with a playful laugh.

Kofigee smile and gently brushed a strand of hair from her face I will see you tomorrow my love

With that , he watched her walk into the house, knowing that the next time they met , it would be the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Kofigee drove off, his heart full of gratitude and anticipation, ready for what the next day would bring

52 CHAPTER:52 THE NIGHT OF PROMISES"

When Kofigee returned home that evening, he felt a deep sense of responsibility weighing on him, but also a growing confidence that everything was falling into place. As he settled into his room his phone rang, it was Bra Kwame

How are you doing, my boy ? Bra Kwame asked, his voice warm and reassuring

I am doing fine , Dad Kofigee replied feeling a wave of confort heading from him

Don't worry, Bra Kwame continued everything will be fine. I ve already sent the warning letter to the George family. They won't dear disrupt tomorrow's event. And one more thing I have arranged for some police officers to secure the area during the engagement.

Kofigee let out a sigh of relief. Thank you, Dad . I can't express how much this means to me.

It's my job to make sure you are happy, Kofigee. Focus on tomorrow. Rest well tonight. We will take care of everything else.

After their conversation ended Kofigee felt an urge to resolve something weighing on his heart.

He went to his grandparents room and found them seated together, quietly discussing the event of the day. Without hesitation, he knelt before them , his expression seriously get humble.

Grandpa, Grandma, he began, his voice steady. I have come to beg on behalf of my brother small pepper, your son , please forgive him.

Grandpa Dankwa looked at him , his eyes softening. Oh , my son, get up . Don't worry. I know the truth about what happened. Small pepper is innocent. I know some of your uncles are behind the problem, stirring up trouble where there's none."

Hearing this , Kofigee felt wave of gratitude. Thank you,

Grandpa. That means so much to me,

But there's one more thing I want to ask , Kofigee continued , standing now. After my engagement tomorrow, I want you to give small pepper my position in the family business. I want him to have a house and a car, too.

That's all I ask before I leave to study abroad.

Grandpa Dankwa was silent for a moment, moved by Kofigee's selflessness. Then , with a nod he said, it will be done, my grandson that is a promise, you have proven to be wise beyond your eyes, and I will honor your wishes.

Thank you, Grandpa, Kofigee said bowing slightly. I will leave you to rest now . Tomorrow will be a big day

As Kofigee left the room ,Grandpa Dankwa sat quietly, reflecting on the moment. Years welled up in his eyes as he spoke softly, almost to himself. Kofigee was born for greatness. Ooh my son, I will miss you.

Seeing his tears , Grandma reached for his hand. Don't cry , she said gently. Everything will be okay. This is just the beginning of his journey, and he will make us proud.

The two sat together in silence comforted by the knowledge that Kofigee was destined to achieve great things and bring honor to their family.

The call that change everything

As Grandpa Dankwa prepared to retire for the night, the quiet of the room was interrupted by the sudden ringing of his phone . He picked it up squinting at the screen before answering, on the other end of the line was old man George , the father of Kofigee's late father.

Hello , Dankwa, old man George began, his tone agitated.what is going on? I just received a letter from my grandson's lawyer, warning me to say away from his family. What is all this about?

Grandpa Dankwa's expression tightened, and his voice remained calm but firm . George, if you want answers ask your Daughter Akosua . She is the one who has disgrace your family with her actions;

What are you talking about,Dankwa ? Old man George demanded now more confused than ever. What did Akousa do?

That is for her to explain, Grandpa Dankwa replied curtly. If she had not cause so much pain , none of this would be happening. Enough trouble to my grandson and his mom.
