"Cousin-in-law, do you have any plans tonight? Can we go out together?" Zhou Xinyao dialed Xia Lu's mobile and invited her proactively.
Xia Lu hesitated for two seconds. She really wasn't familiar with Zhou Xinyao; aside from those couple of times she sought her help, this was one of the rare occasions she addressed her as cousin-in-law. Xia Lu couldn't help but fear that Zhou Xinyao had another favor to ask of Zhou Mingchen and was merely using her as a go-between.
"I'm afraid I can't tonight," Xia Lu declined, "I've got too much work, and I might have to work late into the evening. Why don't you ask another friend to join you?"
"Eh~~~" Zhou Xinyao's voice sounded very reluctant, "I have asked other friends, but I'm all out of options now. I thought we had a good relationship and that you wouldn't refuse if I asked you."
Xia Lu moved the phone away from her ear, spread her hands, and let out a baffled sigh—pity Zhou Xinyao couldn't see her expression at the moment.
