Dark shades on to keep the drive cool in his red drop top two seater luxury sport car, Bob Lee, coming from wherever he was coming from, drove through their mansion gate, back home.
Right on the passenger's seat by his side comfortably relaxed his mistress Nadia. She appeared so fresh and stunningly beautiful, with eyes locked behind luxury transparent glasses. In a white tight top blouse and a yellow mini skirt together with white nike sneakers down on her feet, Nadia Browne looking like a yummy dessert.
"I love you," Bob Lee said to her while he was driving.
Nadia Browne smiled and turned to face him. You know you're very sweet, right?" She learned in to collect a simple kiss and happily he gave it to her.
"I love you too," she replied blushing.
Both leaned back on their seats and bossed like they owned the entire world.
Inside the mansion at that very moment, in a very pitiable state of distress, Bob Lee's mother and wife Ishtar walked like they had just learnt to, taking very slow and miserable steps, entering into a certain room.
In the room were two well decorated children beds.
Colored balloons swinging from the ceiling everywhere, music lights blinking stunningly like stars up in the sky, and different types of dolls well hanged from the ceiling swinging direct into the beds, the room was indeed a welcoming heaven for two new lives.
Ishtar, in a heap of thoughts, with a very sad look on her face, held herself on one of the beds to acquire stamina amidst breaking down to fall.
Her mother-in-law had all the focus on her in her recovery state.
She had not yet recovered from the personal trauma of loosing one of her babies, more so in a way aberrant.
"Take it easy," her mother-in-law hurried up and carefully assisted her to stand back up straight and firm.
"Do you feel like a glass of glucose?" She asked in the process.
"Your abdomen was surgically opened during cesarean section to deliver the babies _ you need it."
But Ishtar miserably replied,"It's the wounds at my heart that are driving me retarded. I'm so haunted by the cause of the death of one of my twins."
"That inconsiderate son of mine who doesn't keep his pants up!!" Mother-in-law busted out loud in regrets, angrily.
Her face got covered by sympathetic sorrow, feeling pitiful for her daughter-in-law.
All over a sudden, Bob Lee's voice was heard calling out loud inside the house, "Mom.... Mom!"
This caught their attention.
Immediately, mother-in-law turned her face at her daughter-in-law, suprised and wondering. Also, Ishtar's sad face had suddenly gone off on hearing her husband's voice. She seemed so surprised, wondering just like her mother-in-law, staring back at her, nervously.
Forgetting both her heart and abdomen pain, Ishtar hurried outside the room to meet him.
Her mother-in-law kept watching.
On the staircases, as Bob Lee was climbing up to check out for his mother, Ishtar met him. Ishtar was angry with him. But when she set her eyes on him, the unwavering love she had for him washed away all the anger from inside out.
They looked at each other eye to eye for a few seconds before any of them said a word. Amid the long stare, a tear rolled out of Ishtar's eye.
"Where have you been?" With a fond voice tone, she asked.
"....." silence
"I needed you by my side in the hospital but you were no where to be seen.... Talk to me Bob!" She yearned.
Suddenly, downstairs Nadia Browne showed up, She set her big bright eyes up at Bob Lee and Ishtar who were standing on the stairs facing eachother and called, "honey!"
Ishtar turned to see who was calling and to her sudden shock, at Nadia Browne landed her eyes. Just like a problem child, from one hurting moment to another, words glued on poor Ishtar's mouth.
Pain was not yet to stop.
However, Bob Lee seemed unbothered by his wife's sorrowful tears. He took eyes off her and looked at Nadia Browne down stairs where she was standing.
Without mentioning a word, he continued to walk the remaining distance upstairs to find his mother. In an open-mouthed gaze, Ishtar was so agitated that she could hardly speak. Her anxiety about her husband's drastic change in conduct towards her was puzzling to the bone.
Hurrying in confusion, she follow him up.
As she was coming after him, her mother-in-law also walked out of the room and posed an abrupt question, "what exactly do you need me for?" Angrily, as soon as she set her eyes on her son.
"Greetings mom," he humbled himself.
"Keep your greetings to yourself!!" She gave him a very cold, rude and sudden response, "you think I haven't got any greetings for all the days you left me in the hospital?"
"Mom!" Politely and affectionately, he tried to bring her to resonating with him, to at least calm down and listen to what he was about to tell her.
But his mother was not ready to consider his humbleness.
"Who on earth abandons his sick wife in the hospital, switches of his mobile phone, and disappears, not for a day or two, but for a full week!" She complained angrily.
"Nadia is pregnant mom," Bob Lee dumped the news in her ears, in a way that was so abruptly.
"And I love her so much."
The sudden least expected news freeze both his mother and wife Ishtar, whose focus on the issues they had on list of things to blame Bob Lee were far away, on his disappearance from the hospital for days. And perhaps his carelessness about his marriage to an extent of loosing one of his babies.
"Ishtar," he turned and faced her, minding less about how painful she was feeling inside her heart after such heart crushing news, and put the last nail in the coffin.
"I need a divorce!" He finalised.
"What?!" Ishtar blurted in shock.
"You heard me," so cold he stood his ground, against her feelings.
"...."
His mother was now in silence mode for a moment. She exhaled, to composed herself, so he could attack the situation in a mature way.
"Your father was a such smart kind hearted man from when I had just met him. Even though he wasn't around most of his time, always doing his best, working hard to build an empire for us, he never stopped caring for you," mother took a memorable glance back in times.
"And why are you telling me all that mom?" He asked mindlessly.
"So late that I'm realising what your father used to advise me most of the times: that I should stop pampering, allowing you to do anything you wanted and how you wanted it as a child, and never considered his advise because as far as I can remember, every time he talked about it, I argued him out. By that time I thought, you deserved all the freedom and pampering I was giving you as my one and only child. Little did I know that I was only spoiling you. Had I known....!"
Stubbornly he said, he twitched his mouth and faced away, undermining his mother's words.
"I never knew that two kind people can give birth to a heartless irresponsible product!" His mother had no space left in her heart to for kind words towards him according to the damages he had caused including making his wife cry miserably back to back.
"Instead of going on with a private wedding, though it was important to let you as my only family know. It's now that i accept you're not ready to stand with me.
to inform you in advance that I am going to take Nadia in as my wife _ already planned for our wedding in two weeks time from now
"Is it wrong to follow my heart?" He shouted at his mother aggressively, What happened to the loving and caring mother that i knew?"
"That mother died the day you abandoned your wife in the hospital," she replied shouting.
"I just followed my heart to where it belongs mom. And I believe when you and your late husband met, you also followed your hearts," he shouted back.
This got his mother so freaky mad, "Shut it up!" She busted angrily, "your tongue must carry total respect whenever you gape to talk about your father."
Ishtar worriedly watch the quarrel between mother and son she had never experienced before. As she was listening, tears quietly kept coming, sniffing and whipping.
Unbelievably the intuitions of her marriage slipping out of hands was hitting her so bad.
"Every reckless step you take and the moves you make right now, be sure you don't end up sliding down because it will hurt so bad and you'll regret it. That's karma _ it's a bitch," his mother warned him, "don't dare come to me crying for my help...."
But, as she was still talking, "honey!" Nadia Browne showed up, perhaps after hearing a big quarrel upstairs.
Or, may be she came into sight for Bob Lee's mother to recognize her presence and make Ishtar feel more jealous.
Her smile as she walked into them was so profound, fully matching her ethereal glow.
