Chapter 46 - Sharp Edge

"I won, I won!"

Staring at the fallen bull, Jiang Feng laughed uncontrollably as he fell backwards, celebrating his victory. His sword also loosened from his grip, falling next to him as metal ringings sounded.

It wasn't due to being tired that he fell, but the exhaustion he had on his mind when multitasking against the fierce attacks of the bull.

After laughing for awhile, Jiang Feng got back on his feet as he approached the bull. Picking up the sword, enshrouded it with spiritual energy again as Spiritual Sense activated, locating the core of the bull.

Through the use of the modified technique, Jiang Feng's sword was able to easily cut through the bull's skin as it reached the core in just a moment. Shoving his hand into the carcass, Jiang Feng quickly pulled out the core as the blood stained his arms.

Backing away from the bull, Jiang Feng took a closer look at the dark blue core.

Unlike the one that was destroyed to kill the Werewolf, the bull's core was in perfect condition and filled with spiritual energy.

The spiritual energy, however, seemed to be vastly different from the one Jiang Feng sensed in human cultivators, or the ones flowing in all places. As if it was, filled with impurities.

Just as Jiang Feng was about to fall deeper into examining it, a ray of light shone onto the crystal-like object as it reflected into his eyes, jolting him awake as the light blinded him slightly.

The core along with the bull was stored away into the space pouch as Jiang Feng immediately returned to his temporary abode, in case of needing to deal with monsters that had been attracted by the fight.

Arriving before the cave's entrance, Jiang Feng quickly headed in as he waved his hand, bringing over a large stone from nearby using Spiritual Energy Manipulation to block monsters from disturbing his research.

Conjuring a batter lamp in his hands, Jiang Feng turned it on and placed it to the side before holding his sword in his lap, inspecting its sharp edge as the surface refracted the light. A thin layer of spiritual energy encased it as Jiang Feng narrowed his eyes, noticing the lethality of the sword increasing.

Grabbing onto the sword's handle, Jiang Feng made a light swing using it as he slashed towards the wall.

Boom~

The surroundings trembled for a short while as pebbles fell from the roof of the cave, and at where the sword struck, a 5-centimeter deep cut appeared on it.

Jiang Feng gasped in shock as he looked at the results of his modified technique, immediately praising its prowess.

'How terrifying. With just a small amount of spiritual energy, and I can break through the bull's defense with just my sword. The cave's wall also seemed to turn into tofu, being sliced easily with just a simple swing.' Jiang Feng thought inwardly.

'In the end, I'll have to thank Ling afterwards for teaching me the Nameless Spell.'

'If it wasn't for it, I wouldn't have the idea of modifying it into something for weapons. To think it would be such a success as well.'

In the moment of desperation, Jiang Feng managed to think of using the Nameless Spell to enhance the sword's lethality, the only way out of his predicament other than escaping. However, knowing that the Spell was intended to strengthen the body of a cultivator, Jiang Feng had no choice but to try modifying it himself.

To do so, he first had to understand how the Spell worked.

It required the spiritual energy from within to be brought out and enveloped around the body part of the cultivator. Then, seeping back into the veins and muscles, it enhances the body part's durability.

The Spell's working was easy to realize with just a bit of time. The problem Jiang Feng faced in this, was modifying it.

Without prior knowledge of creating a Spell or an Art, Jiang Feng needed to figure out a way to apply the same effects onto the sword.

Unlike living beings, the sword lacked veins and cells that could be encased by spiritual energy.

To use the Nameless Spell on it would be equal to using it on a dead being, destined to have no reaction.

Thus, Jiang Feng moved his focus to the Art, Flame Creation.

Due to his constant usage of it, Jiang Feng knew that the flames were created through shaping the spiritual energy into a similar shape, bestowing it the same properties.

This discovery became the key to the modification of the Nameless Spell, as it led Jiang Feng to think in another way.

Since spiritual energy could be shaped, why not just turn it into a sharper edge for the sword?

Following that train of thought, Jiang Feng began working on it as he gathered his experience from both the Nameless Spell and Flame Creation, creating a new skill out of it.

'Since I'll be using it from now on, I think I'll call it 'Sharp Edge'.' Jiang Feng thought inwardly.

Keeping away the sword, Jiang Feng proceeded to take out the bull's core as he placed it on the ground before him.

The spiritual energy within it has been circling at an equal pace for as long as Jiang Feng was aware of. Ignoring the impurities, Jiang Feng could tell through Spiritual Sense that there was a large amount of spiritual energy contained inside.

Compared to his current spiritual energy reserves, Jiang Feng would say it was about a fifth of it.

"It…should be safe to absorb, right?"

Muttering those words as he picked up the core from the ground, Jiang Feng gulped in nervousness as he thought about the crazy idea that just went through his mind.

Within the few months that he came into contact with the cultivation world, Jiang Feng had only ever used spiritual energy from his surroundings and Ling's spiritual energy for cultivation. Thus, the spiritual energy within the core full of impurities was seen as a big danger sign.

Nonetheless, Jiang Feng's curiosity won over his rationality as his legs crossed in the lotus position, the bull's core held near his dantian.

Taking repeated deep breaths, the strange core was the last thing that Jiang Feng looked at before his eyes shut tight, entering cultivation.
