Returning to the city, Jiang Feng and Ling flew past the city walls as they entered through their airspace. Heading straight for the tavern, Ling inserted the key into the door as the handle turned.
"I'll take a bath first." Jiang Feng said as he walked towards the bathroom.
"Be quick," Ling replied as she lay down on the bed.
The splashing sounds of the shower soon echoed in the room as the water was turned out. Since the cultivation world was lacking development in fields of comfortability, there was only a bucket for Jiang Feng to wash himself with.
"Thankfully I thought of bringing soaps and conditioner." Jiang Feng murmured as he began stripping.
Rinsing himself with the cold water and washing off the dirt stains that stuck onto his body, Jiang Feng dried his body off as he took out a clean set of the same clothes he wore earlier.
"Finally, you're done." Ling spoke as she sat up from the bed, noticing Jiang Feng was out from changing.
"Sorry, it was quite troublesome having to clean myself with just a bucket. Anyways, what did you want to talk about?"
"You're already at Foundation Building Peak Stage, right? How much longer until you breakthrough to Body Reconstruction Stage?"
"I'm not sure, another month or two I guess. If I use the monster's cores, it could be shortened into a few days though."
"That's what we'll be doing then. Last time, you cleansed the impurities in the core's spiritual energy with the help of the Ghost Fire I left in you. Although, it worked and cleared it quicker than you could, there will come a day that even my Ghost Fire can't save you."
"Since neither of us wants you to lose your life, I'll teach you how to cleanse any impurities you find in cores." Saying so, Ling conjured out a core as she passed it to Jiang Feng.
Taking the core over from Ling's hand, Jiang Feng started inspecting it while Ling started lecturing him through the process.
"First of all, try using Spiritual Sense to find the impurities within the core. It should feel like there's something vibrating in the space within."
Activating Spiritual Sense like Ling said, Jiang Feng focused his attention on the insides of the core as the abundant spiritual energy within came into view as blue flows. Whilst admiring the unique sight, Jiang Feng didn't forget his goal.
"Found it." Jiang Feng spoke as he 'stared' at one of the many blue flows, wriggling abnormally as signs of disperse were present.
"That's quick. Now, try injecting your spiritual energy into the core and cleanse them. Or in other words, erase the unstable parts."
"I'll give it a try."
Jiang Feng's spiritual energy immediately moved to work as they seeped past the core's wall. Through the view of Spiritual Sense, Jiang Feng got to see his spiritual energy that had a darker shade of hue, merging with the blue flows.
Immediately afterwards, the wriggling parts of the blue flows intensified their movements as Jiang Feng's spiritual energy reached them, trying to eject the foreign energy.
The prior experience of cleansing impurities served as support for Jiang Feng who enveloped the resistance in an instant, slowly diminishing its power through constricting and contracting it.
'That was easier than I thought.' he thought inwardly.
Just as Jiang Feng was about to relax, the same feeling of resistance reoccurred as it came in a big bundle.
Turning away from the solved case, Jiang Feng noticed that it wasn't the only impurity among all the flows. Multiple of them were reacting fiercely as his spiritual energy was slowly being overwhelmed and dispersed.
"Stop being dazed, Feng. The impurities have to be cleared continuously or they'll return over time."
Ling's voice sounded in his ears as they woke him up.
Under Jiang Feng's command, his spiritual energy began flooding out into the core as they burst apart the impurities along the flows.
Such brute actions made small explosions occur in the insides of the core as the number of impurities went down at a drastic pace.
'A hundred left.'
'Eighty'
'Seventy'
'Fifty-five'
'Twenty'
"The last ten!" Jiang Feng murmured as directed all of the spiritual energy he injected into the core towards its center, where the last ten parts of impurities were located at. It was also the connecting point for all the blue flows of spiritual energy in the monster's core.
Because of this, the remaining impurities were visibly more intensified than in other parts, having turned from minor wriggling to the wavy lines of a person's heart rate on a monitor.
Despite not directly interacting with it, Jiang Feng could tell its effect reached his incoming spiritual energy flows, dispersing them little by little.
'Dragging this on any longer would be unbeneficial. I'll just crush it down like the coast side buildings against the gigantic waves.' Jiang Feng thought inwardly as his hand extended towards the core's center, clenching into a fist.
Jiang Feng's spiritual energy flows immediately pounced on the impurities like wild beasts, surrounding them while constricting their size.
Like a fragile glass, the remaining impurities cracked as they released the biggest explosion until now, releasing a gentle wave of spiritual energy that forcefully dispelled Jiang Feng's Spiritual Sense. It continued to spread throughout the room, increasing the intensity of the spiritual energy in the tavern.
"Success." Jiang Feng spoke as his eyelids parted.
His gaze was placed on the monster core in his hand, which now radiated with purified spiritual energy.
Ling was also looking at the same thing while nodding her head, impressed by Jiang Feng's quick achievement of cleansing the monster's core.
'As I've expected, his talent in cultivation before reincarnation was brought along.' Ling thought inwardly.
'Although it'll allow him to grow faster, it would quickly attract the attention of the Gods and Celestials. I'll need to start cultivating seriously as well, else the past would only replay itself in the present.'
"So what do I do now, Ling? Do I just absorb this core right away?" Jiang Feng asked, shifting his attention onto her.
The corners of Ling's lips immediately rose as a light smile appeared on her while she stared at Jiang Feng, giving the man a bad omen as he asked again.
"Ling?"
"Ah, sorry, Feng. I was a little distracted earlier. Since you've learned how to cleanse the impurities, why don't just cleanse the rest of your loot? It'll definitely be useful for your ascension to Body Reconstruction Stage."
"Eh?"
"Since we're tight on time, I'll have no choice but to postpone my wonderful night with you. I'll pour out the cores for you first and leave them at the corners, so do your best!"
"Wait a minute, aren't you going to help a little?"
"Not at all. Your rise counts on you, Feng, so I shouldn't interfere too much. If there's nothing else, I'll head to sleep now."
"Just slow down a sec, how am I supposed to finish this in one night? Your giving me an-"
Without waiting for him to finish, Ling waved her hand and took out all the loot that Jiang Feng collected, throwing them into the corners of the room.
Once it was all out, she turned away and went to bed, ignoring the speechless man while faking sleep.
Seeing this, Jiang Feng could only sigh in forfeit as he looked at the room filled with blue cores rolling all over.
"I guess I can only start working."
