The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the warmth. The sheets were soft and tangled around me, carrying the faintest trace of Mark's scent.
The second thing I noticed was that the bed was empty.
I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. Mark was already up, standing near the closet, buttoning his shirt. His back was to me, his posture easy, unhurried.
I shifted, stretching slightly before pushing myself up onto my elbows. My body still felt languid, pleasantly sore in a way that sent heat creeping up my neck. I ignored it, rubbing my face before glancing toward Mark again.
"Hey…"
"Hey yourself." Mark turned slightly, his gaze flicking over me.
"You didn't wake me" I murmured, my voice still thick with sleep.
Something unreadable flashed behind his eyes before he smirked. "I figured you could use the extra rest."
I arched an eyebrow. "Because…?"
