"How ….. how could this ..." Madam Meyer's voice trembled, as she tried to say something and yet the words continued to fail her the more, she wanted to speak.
It still felt surreal. Just like a dream, it didn't feel real at all.

Looking at the green light on the theatre door, and then at her son who was going crazy, veins popping out while pacing up and down, she was at a loss for words.
She regretted it. Why did she take Briar today, of all days?
If she hadn't taken the other out and perhaps let the shop come to them, perhaps Briar wouldn't be fighting for her life in the theatre right now. Perhaps her grandchild, whom they didn't even know existed, would have survived.
