"I'm gonna ask you the same question…", Jacob looked at Ali who had his eyes down at the large training field filled with players. "What do you think?"
"The supervisors made their move against the gods, now they'll have the majority of players under them…They just have to keep their proxy alive for long enough as they assimilate the guild properly and then there's no stopping it", Ali answered as the metal sphere floated around his hand.
"Do you know a guild's structure? It's the worker ants at the bottom doing the garbage work and making the guild a large profit which is then used on talented players to ascend through Paradise. The talented players will then either lead the guild on a certain floor or they'll fight in guild wars for the benefit of their gods who stake something against the enemy god.", Jacob sighed and looked up at the sky.
"Or they'll just die meaninglessly and the guild will move on as usual with investment in another player already who will follow in his predecessor's footsteps and die", Jacob continued.
Ali was looking down at the long track field where a boy who looked no older than seventeen with a thin body and orange hair was running down the track at a slow speed, his form was terrible and he looked like he was gonna collapse at any moment.
'Will he do it?', Ali thought looking down at the body who continued running while other players who were either faster or slower would stop for a breath before continuing their run.
'Every average human can run for long distances, it's just a matter of surpassing the mental block the brain puts on the body, that way a person can surpass their limits and discover what they are truly capable of', Ali thought to himself as the boy completed a lap around the training field.
Sigh…Jacob looked down at the training field where he saw two guys fighting with a smile on their faces, they were kicking and punching each other with fire in their eyes to get stronger and ambition to climb higher and higher.
"You know i never wanted this, never wanted to end up in this shithole…Those who are grateful to be sent here are people I despise…", above Jacob's hand a small green whirlwind appeared, a magic he'd used to kill many.
"Unlike them i was doing well in life, I'd climbed higher in life to reach where i wanted to be and was finally enjoying what I worked so hard for…", Jacob closed his hand and the wind was snuffed, "Then we all got dropped in this fucking—fucking shithole. All i worked for gone and now i have to start all over again…", Jacob's eyes looked up at the sun and he couldn't feel true warmth from it, he knew it was fake…
Back on the track, the orange haired boy breathed every breath like it was his last, his heart pumping hard as his lungs burned and his small muscles tore apart from the strain but the boy didn't stop, it was as if he couldn't stop.
THUD
The boy fell face first and went limp as unconsciousness took over and he suffered a cardiac arrest, Ali watched as a green light engulfed him and he woke back up with his face healed from the fall and his muscles restored just enough to move. A mage at the side of the track shouted at the boy for doing something so extreme…
'Then there's those who are determined enough to take their consciousness out of their body and look at their bodies as tools for their goals, that boy did just that…He risked his life to better himself', Ali thought.
"Did you just bring me here to whine like a bitch?", Ali's cold eyes looked at Jacob who shuddered from the suffocating stare.
"No, i got carried away I'm sorry…", Jacob covered his face with his hands and then took them off—his poker face back on. "Ali, are you sure you don't wish to create a team or guild?", Jacob asked Ali.
"No", Ali answered right away.
"Ok…Will you help me?", Jacob asked Ali.
"Only if you tell me what is happening and what's in it for me if i help you", Ali answered.
"Of course you'd say that", Jacob smiled—not surprised by Ali's cold answer, "Have you realised anything about my guild? The air guild?", Jacob asked.
"Hmmm, I'd say compared to the other four guilds then you guys are weak in terms of personnel, other than you there isn't any ranked air guild players on the list.", Ali responded with one observation he got from the air guild.
"Your right, other than me and the leader who's actually the only third level player down here. We have no one worth much in the guild, the rest are average at best.", Jacob revealed to Ali.
"Why?", Ali asked as he was curious how one of the five ancient guilds could be in such a bad situation.
"It's a hidden story between very knowledgable people and it cost me to get this information, but it goes like this…Apparently a couple years back, the air apostle at the time had his eyes on a pretty girl from the merchant's guild up in the third floor. She wouldn't accept his approaches and one day he saw her with another man", Jacob started the story.
"So this genius goes angry and he secretly hunts the couple down for weeks before he finally catches them outside of Paradise in some world, there he kills the man and rapes the pretty girl before killing her too. However someone saw that and relayed what happened to the merchant's guild"
"Long story short this pretty girl was the daughter of a high ranking merchant who had deep connections with the merchant's guild, the father seeks vengeance and goes after the apostle who hears of this and ascends to the fourth level to escape the father's wrath. But the merchant wouldn't stop as he then turned his anger to the air guild, the man put a huge bounty on every Air guild player worth anything on the third level."
"He also bought up items which directly counter the air guild spells for his hunters, he massacred many before the guild responded and sent fourth level players down there who also massacred nearly a hundred merchants as a response and that ignited a war between the merchant's guild and the air guild on the fourth level but that merchant survived and went into hiding, he continued with hunting down the air guild players for years now."
Ali interrupted Jacob, "So he's gonna come after you when you ascend and the air guild isn't interested in protecting you as they don't want to start another war, they'd rather search for the man in secret", Ali guessed.
"Exactly, basically I'm fucked. The other guilds also didn't let the opportunity go and they attacked the air guild on the third and the second level reducing it to this…Now the guild only invests in an apostle who could maybe be strong enough to survive the assassinations. If not then he'll die and they recycle…", Jacob told everything to Ali.
"I don't want to die Ali…", Jacob's eyes sharpening, "I'm planning on leaving the guild, and joining the adventurer's guild", Jacob finally said it.
"Took you long enough to say the obvious", Ali mocked as he started seriously contemplating the situation.
"I need your help to escape the guild's contract, in return i have an item to offer you", Jacob said to Ali.
"What's the item—", Ali stopped talking as a piece of paper floated down between the two men and Jacob's right arm suddenly glowed green as he swung behind him with the sharp wind blade but there was no-one there.
Ali caught the paper and read it before he activated his Force lightning burning the paper to a crisp…
