Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: THE BETRAYAL (part-1)

Breaking News: The infamous criminal known as Shadow was arrested by the police force yesterday and placed in a cell. The police are set to provide brief details about the case at 2:30 PM this afternoon. The public is in shock, and their reactions vary widely.

"What? He was caught that quickly? Too bad for him; I was hoping for more from him," one man scoffs. Another adds, "Huh! How did they catch him so fast? I can't believe it!"

On the other hand, women's responses are filled with disbelief and concern. "Oh no! How could this happen? He was doing what the government has failed to do for centuries. Why... I can't understand why... of all people, he was the one to get caught."

The men express a mix of mockery, sadness, and anger, while the women feel depressed, insecure, and furious. Some even head to their places of worship, praying for his release.

As the news channel ramps up its coverage, they slander Shadow for his actions, calling for his execution. Just then, another breaking news alert flashes across the screen: the police head officer will reveal details about how they captured the criminal live this afternoon. The public's curiosity peaks, and they gather in front of their TVs, eagerly awaiting the unfolding drama.

The media members greet the audience and settle in. The police officer announces that each channel can ask only one question. A random reporter stands up, asking, "Sir, how were you able to catch this criminal so quickly, unlike other cases?"

The police officer replies, "His friend surrendered to us first, which led us to Shadow's hideout, where we captured him."

The reporter presses, "Can you provide more details?"

"Only one question per channel, please," the officer responds curtly. The reporter sits down, silenced. Another reporter stands and asks, "Why did he kill that person? Do you have any reasons for this?"

The officer replies, "His real name is Shivam. He was an ordinary man working in a software company. He quit his job six years ago and disappeared from this country, reemerging as Shadow. We still don't know what he did during those six years, nor do we understand why he killed that person."

The officer continues, "Next question, please." Another reporter stands up and asks, "How many people has he killed until now?"

The officer grimly states, "He has killed a total of 20 people, and he executed them in the same manner as he did yesterday."

The room falls silent, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air. The police officer stands up and leaves the press conference room, the media rising in frustration, eager to ask more questions, but he exits without uttering another word.

As the officer sits in his car, he instructs his driver to head toward the jail. The driver nods and accelerates, the tension palpable in the air.

Meanwhile, in his cell, Shadow sits in the shadows, a figure of calm amidst the chaos. A man approaches him, his voice trembling. "Sorry, Shadow. I'm so sorry. I didn't want to do this to you. Please understand."

Shadow's eyes narrow, a cold smile creeping across his face. "Hoh, the betrayer finally comes to talk. Ha... I trusted you like a fool. After everything that happened to my sister and me, you betrayed me. Tell me why."

The man stammers, "I hope you understand what position I'm in. Please forgive me." He turns to leave, but Shadow's voice cuts through the air like a knife.

"Forgiveness? You think I can forgive you? You have no idea what I've become. You will regret this betrayal."

As the man walks away, Shadow's mind races with thoughts of revenge. He knows that this is just the beginning. The world outside may think they have captured him, but he is far from finished. The darkness within him stirs, and he vows to unleash chaos upon those who wronged him.

In the depths of his cell, Shadow begins to plot his next move, a sinister smile playing on his lips. The game is far from over, and he will make them all pay.
