Kastiel and Rowan also chimed in, urging everyone present not to spread the rumors, as they claimed Duke Carlton was currently grappling with mental health issues and speaking nonsense. Despite their efforts, they all knew full well that gossip would inevitably spread like wildfire, and it wouldn't be long before the Emperor himself caught wind of these scandalous allegations.
In an effort to make amends for Carlton's baseless accusations against Marquis Dorian, Alaric extended a formal apology on behalf of his best friend. He acknowledged that Carlton bore full responsibility for his reckless words and should face appropriate punishment. Given their understanding of Carlton's purported mental state, it was agreed that as recompense for the slanderous remarks about non-existent kid, Carlton would be compelled to cede one of his mines over to Dorian.
