Isabel had to think fast and decided that, instead of answering Harper's question, she would simply change the subject.
How? By bringing up a topic that would surely attract both of their attention.
"More importantly, how are you?" Isabel began, ignoring the question. "Have you been to your husband's house to pack your bags yet?"
Immediately, the ex-teacher's expression soured as she remembered that. In theory, that man wasn't supposed to be there, but it was difficult to be absolutely sure.
"I haven't gone there yet," she commented with a sigh. Then she explained that everything should work out and that he wouldn't be there.
