Chapter 100 - Death of The Traitor II

(Baelon's POV)

"How is Aemond?" I asked as I approached Maester Orwyle, "He'll be alright?"

He nodded as he closed the door behind him, "Yes, he just lost more blood than desired." He said, "His wound was stitched and there is no signs of rot. Just rest would do the trick with him. As for Ser Gwayne, I will need to tend to him more than I would like to. His wounds are indeed extensive. Prince Daemon would need to rest his leg, that is all. The gods are graceful, being merciful to them."

I nodded, "Right...."

I had come to see Aemond after being treated, Helaena had come with me and was standing next to me, holding my hand.

"The Queen and Lady Aemma are in there." Orwyle said before bowing slightly, "I must take my leave."

"I see....." I said as I stood there, watching him leave

"Baelon...." Helaena said

"Aemma is there...." I said softly, "I do not know how I feel about this...."

She squeezed my hand, "It will be okay, my love..." She said, "Let us go in there."

I looked at her, "Is it the wise move?"

She gave me a smile, "You want to see our brother, no?" She asked, "It is fine."

I nodded, "R-Right...."

No matter where I go right now, she will not leave my side. It is understandable, she does not want to leave me. She wants to be right with me. She was not too sure about this Trial but there was the chance I could have died. There is always a chance that her Dreams would not be true, the chance that I could die at any given moment.

She did not like that, nor did she wanted to take that chance. Right now, she was more than relieved to have me by her side, to not be dead. And I could not feel more relieved either; I don't want to die and leave her alone, sad and full of despair. That is the last thing I wanted.

But another thing I do not want is to come face to face with Aemma. I had just killed her Father in combat, I wonder how she would react.

I will not blame the girl if she hates me. She is good, she is pure, she is everything I would protect from the filth that was Trevor.

But now Trevor is dead and I don't intend on looking back. There were so many questions that needed answers but right now, I intend to check on my brother.

I opened the door and walked in, pulling Helaena alongside me as we looked at the bed where Aemond laid. I saw that Aemma stood behind Mother who was sitting next to Aemond, a concerned look on her face.

He looked over at me, "Brother..." He said, "You finally come to see me."

I chuckled, "Sorry, Aemond." I said, "I took longer than I wanted."

Without wasting a moment, Mother stood up and walked over to me, a serious scowl on her face.

"Baelon...." she said softly

I looked at her, "Mother..." I said, "I take it that you are re-"

She cut me off by beginning to smack my chest frantically, tears in her eyes as she glared at me.

"You stupid boy!" She cried, her voice shaky, "You could have gotten killed! The both of you!"

I let go of Helaena's hand and gently grabbed Mother's hands as she continued hitting me, "Mother....." I said, "I....."

"It is okay, Mother." Helaena said, "They are both okay.....it is fine....."

"N-No!" She cried, "It is not okay! They could have simply gotten over it quickly! But instead, you do this, Baelon!"

I pulled her in for a hug, "I am sorry...." I said softly as I embraced her while she sobbed, "It had to be done, Mother. You know that. I really am sorry for worrying all of you."

"D-Don't ever do that again...." she sobbed, "I cannot bear the thought of losing my sons....my children...my babies..."

I patted her head, "I understand..." I said

Helaena pulled Mother away from me and hugged her as well, "Baelon is strong...." She said as Mother tried to stop sobbing, "Everything is fine, Mother."

As Mother tried calming down, I felt Aemond's eye on me. I looked over at him, he seemed fine. He was merely bandaged up without his shirt and did seem paler than usual; and he's very pale normally.

He gestured at Aemma who was looking down, trying not to make eye-contact with us.

I let out a sigh and slowly walked over to her, "A-Aemma...." I said

She said nothing, she merely stepped back as I stood in front of her. There was almost no reaction from her, she merely stood still, so still that it was almost scary.

"I am sorry that you had to witness that." I said, "I hope you can understand the fact that it had to be done. There was no other-"

I was cut off by Aemma jumping on me for a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around me as she sniffed.

"I am glad you're okay, Uncle...." She said softly

"Aemma...." I started

She hugged me tightly, "M-My Father was a Traitor....." She managed, "What happened to him had to be done.....b-but.....I...my Mother...My Mother and I....what will-"

"Nothing." I told her as I hugged her back, patting her head, "Nothing will happen to you. I don't intend on hurting either of you any further. Both of you have gone through enough, my sweet niece. It is done, you won't have to worry about anything else...."

She looked at me, tears in her eyes, "Are you certain?"

"You will marry Aemond." I patted her cheek, "That won't change. You will no longer have to worry about anything, Aemma. Do you really think my Father would allow his first grandchild to be harmed?"

She pulled away and slowly nodded, "I see..."

"What now, Baelon?" Aemond asked me suddenly

I looked at him, "What do you mean?"

"There are two survivors." He said, "The ones called Lynn and Daron."

"Is that so?" I said, "Well, what do you want me to do?"

"Killing them would be ideal." He said

"I don't know about that." I said as I turned around,

"They will be useful."
