Chapter 234: Learning Quickly from the Seniors
Outside the manor, on a hidden hill.
Wu Heng held binoculars, observing the battle ahead.
They had arrived while Benasev was still speaking.
They didn't attack immediately but waited until the necromancer Giovanni stepped out of the building and came into sight before letting Hunter One open fire.
However, the opponent was more alert than expected; even facing a sniper rifle, he didn't die.
Only one of his arms was injured.
Such a wound could be healed with some potions, and since he was a Level 16 mage, he might have access to even higher-grade remedies.
If it's not a fatal injury, the opponent would still possess full combat capability.
At present, smoke and dust once again covered the area.
"I can lead our people in; there shouldn't be many left," Wen Mansa said beside him.
She had used such machine guns before and knew their destructive power during a barrage.
One machine gun had wiped out the White Wolf Gang back then; now, with two strafing back and forth, the entire field was filled with smoke from the shooting.
Obviously, not many could have survived.
"No rush; that necromancer might not be dead," Wu Heng said directly.
Rushing in might be walking into a trap!
"Oh, okay!"
Thinking of that tall, sinister necromancer, Wen Mansa couldn't help but shiver.
......
Inside the stone castle.
The walls were riddled with countless holes, densely covering every surface.
At this moment, Giovanni's wraith returned from the ceiling and re-entered his body.
He closed his eyes to view the scene; when he opened them again, his expression grew even more serious.
Wu Heng!
It really was him.
He had underestimated him—a mere squad captain from the Guild possessing such powerful equipment.
"Damn it, I should have killed him earlier."
If he'd known, he would have killed him in the city; dealing with the Guild would have been troublesome but better than this.
But thinking about it now was obviously too late.
Benasev, lying on the ground in disarray, shouted, "What should we do? Who is the enemy?"
Giovanni glared at him and gritted his teeth, "Wu Heng! He has such weapons; why didn't you tell me?"
"How would I know what this is? I had no idea!" Benasev shouted loudly.
Nearby, the other nobles, hearing this, began shouting toward the outside without concern:
"Wu Heng, Captain Wu Heng, we have nothing to do with this! Let us out!"
"I'll give you money; please stop attacking!"
"It was all the Secret Cult's doing; it has nothing to do with me! Let us go!"
Pleas for mercy rang out one after another.
They were wealthy merchants enjoying endless luxury, yet they had provoked such a killing god.
Since Wu Heng arrived in Rentam City, the Secret Cult hadn't gained any advantage.
Why did they still have to provoke him?
Everyone was filled with regret.
"Make them shut up!" Giovanni said grimly.
The remaining undead servant crouched low, drew its sword, and charged.
In an instant, everyone except Benasev was slain by the undead servant's blade.
The scent of blood spread instantly.
Benasev's pupils contracted; still lying on the ground, he immediately said, "If Mr. Giovanni can save me, I am willing to offer half of my wealth to you."
Giovanni, eyes full of killing intent, glanced at him.
Yet he did not order him killed.
......
Suddenly, the gunfire ceased; only a ringing remained in their ears.
Giovanni looked outside through his wraith's vision.
The gun barrels had turned red-hot.
Those weapons had reached their limit.
Seizing the moment, Giovanni quickly cast a spell; a gray-white halo suddenly spread out.
The relatively intact corpses transformed into Rotting Corpse, staggering to their feet.
"Charge out and kill them all."
Clatter~!
The rotting corpses picked up weapons from the ground and launched an attack.
Almost simultaneously, the tricycle outside the gate sped away.
Meanwhile, a large number of skeletons and rotting corpses stormed into the manor.
The two waves of undead troops clashed instantly,
Weapons slashing at each other while also facing incoming attacks.
Crack~!
A rotting corpse dressed in luxurious attire had its head chopped off.
After falling, its body began to form bowl-sized tumors, which burst open one after another with squelching sounds.
It wasn't the poisonous gas of the "Evil Blast" spell.
Instead, as the tumors burst, countless bowl-sized spiders emerged from the splattering fluids.
They continued to pounce on the enemies ahead.
These spiders used their sharp mandibles to tear at the enemies' bodies.
Upon being killed, their bodies swelled again and exploded with loud bangs.
This time, the explosions sounded like grenades.
Smoke rose as surrounding enemies were blasted apart, and craters two to three meters in diameter formed on the ground.
The spiders, small and numerous, triggered chain reactions.
Covering an area, they continuously blew up both enemies and any nearby undead.
Newly fallen rotting corpses bred more spiders, continuing the suicidal explosions.
From a distance, Wu Heng widened his eyes, surprised by the scene before him.
Embedding spells in rotting corpses wasn't a novel tactic.
Wu Heng also used such tricks, pre-casting "Evil Blast" to create poisonous gas zones.
But the current method was obviously different from his own.
Breeding spiders might be a form of the "Plague Insect" spell, and the second round of explosions was the necromancy spell "Corpse Explosion."
So this is another way to use it.
Wu Heng felt he'd learned a new tactic.
Indeed, learning from experienced practitioners is faster than figuring it out alone.
It broadened his horizons and introduced new applications.
Once he learned these two skills, he could use them similarly.
The lethality would be even more significant.
The battle continued; there weren't many people left in the manor, and most had been turned into mush and fragments due to the bombing and gunfire.
......
Giovanni's face grew even more grim.
The enemy's undead soldiers were of considerable level.
His own tactics were effective but lacked sufficient numbers compared to the opponent's large army.
If this dragged on, he'd end up dead.
"You're on your own!" Giovanni glanced at Benasev, who was crouching with his head down, then said to his skeletal servant, "Go out and buy me some time."
The skeletal servant leaned forward and rushed out.
Bang~!
An explosion sounded.
A bullet flew straight at it, hitting the servant's breastplate and leaving a dent.
Giovanni immediately moved, rushing out of the building and hiding near the parked carriages.
The ground was littered with dead horses and fragments of carriages shattered by bullets.
Giovanni took out a dagger, cut the reins of the horses, and cast "Battlefield of the Dead"; rotting corpse horses stood up one by one.
"Charge out and trample them!" Giovanni pointed ahead.
Clip-clop!
Over ten rotting corpse horses began to gallop, charging toward the attacking enemies.
Boom, boom boom~!
This time, the deaths of the rotting corpse horses triggered "Corpse Explosion."
Violent explosions erupted within the enemy ranks.
The tight formation was blasted open with a huge gap.
In the next second, two skeletal horses pulling a carriage burst through, knocking aside enemies and breaking through the encirclement, racing down the road.
After escaping the siege, Giovanni looked viciously through the carriage curtains at the figure on the hillside.
Once he got away this time, he was determined to kill Wu Heng.
Not just for the Secret Cult's reward—now it was personal.
As he contemplated this,
Suddenly, from behind the carriage, came the clattering sound of metal.
Looking back, he saw the strange three-wheeled vehicle rapidly approaching at an astonishing speed.
Giovanni's expression changed.
What are they up to?
Weren't those weapons unusable?
He quickly leaned out and cast "Fireball," "Witchcraft Arrow," and "Magic Missile," launching them directly.
The tricycle nimbly swerved to dodge; the fireball exploded behind, raising a scorching heat wave.
The other spells missed due to the distance and the tricycle's agility.
Meanwhile, the tricycle accelerated again.
In the blink of an eye, it was running parallel to the carriage.
The two machine guns swiveled, aiming at the carriage.
Giovanni's face showed sheer terror.
A disheveled wraith flew out from his body, heading toward the tricycle, aiming for the skeleton operating the machine gun.
Simultaneously, Glenda appeared out of thin air, intertwining with the wraith like merging water.
Panic filled Giovanni's eyes. As he tried to cast more quick spells,
Under his horrified gaze, the two weapons spewed tongues of fire.
Bang bang bang~!
The violent gunfire tore the entire carriage apart.
Smoke and dust enveloped the carriage.
The skeletal horses shattered, and the carriage overturned by the roadside.
The once-elegant necromancer lay among the wreckage, his chest a bloody mess. Spitting blood, he tried to say something.
The tricycle stopped; the skeleton driver got off, drew the longsword at its waist, and effortlessly chopped off the mage's head.
After surveying the surroundings,
It tossed the corpse onto the cargo bed, turned around, and left.
......
At that moment, Giovanni's rotting corpses collapsed like puppets with their strings cut.
The pre-set spells all lost their effect.
The chaotic scene instantly fell into silence.
Wu Heng, along with Wen Mansa and the other skeletons, descended the hillside and entered the manor.
The luxurious estate had become a ruin.
The entire structure, including the walls, was riddled with bullet holes.
As they stepped into the courtyard, a figure crawled out from a deep flower bed, his waist and abdomen shattered, blood gushing.
Coughing up blood, he looked up at Wu Heng and the others, fear evident on his face.
"C-Captain Wu Heng, this has nothing to do with me. Save me; I can give you a lot of money."
Wu Heng waved slightly; Fireblade stepped forward and decapitated him with one stroke.
The head rolled off to the side.
Wen Mansa stared blankly at the scene.
This place likely gathered the wealthy merchants of half the city.
As the leader's wife of a small gang, she previously didn't even have the qualification to speak to them.
If Roche were still alive, he might have tried everything to offer her to one of these merchants in exchange for support.
But now...
The influential figures of half the city had been reduced to fragments.
The man just killed was someone Wen Mansa had met before; he was behind the hallucinogenic potions in the city.
Now he lay dead at her feet.
......
Suddenly, Wen Mansa frowned.
The tamed beast circling in the sky transmitted an image.
Benasev... he wasn't dead yet.
"Master, Benasev is still alive; he's trying to escape," Wen Mansa pointed to the back of the manor.
"Let's go check it out!" Wu Heng immediately led his team to pursue.
They saw Benasev limping away.
His bloodied hands tightly held a ticket, tearing along one side.
Woo~!
A piercing whistle sounded.
Suddenly, space rippled beside them, and an iron-green train appeared out of thin air.
It stopped in front of Benasev; the door opened.
Benasev looked back.
Before Wu Heng could raise his pistol, Benasev boarded the train with his ticket.
In the next second, the train started up, rushed into the ripples again, and disappeared.
