"Why do you want to see Layla now?" David asked as he drove. "You could have invited her home instead of going all the way to her company."
"Stop complaining, David," Ruby said, crossing her arms. "If you don't want to take me there, you can drop me off right here." She glared at her fiancé before adding, "I know you and Lucius don't get along, but that doesn't mean you can stop me from visiting Layla at her workplace."
David sighed, gripping the steering wheel tighter. "Ruby, that's not what I meant. You know what kind of man Lucius is. It's better to stay away from him."
"You can't badmouth my best friend's husband in front of me," Ruby pouted, turning her head away.
"Alright, alright. I'll keep my mouth shut," David relented, shaking his head as he continued driving.
