Athena weakly staggered out of their small hut. Her whole body was in pain, but that pain was nothing compared to the one in her heart. She was broken. Once outside, her eyes met a lot of people grieving just like she was. She walked to the yard next door where one of her childhood friends lived and found her parents crying, while a body lay on the small bed, covered by a white cloth.
"What's going on? Why are you crying? Where's Alisha?" She asked, and Alisha's parents pointed at the body on the bed. She walked over and opened the cloth, only to see a horrific sight. Right before her eyes was her friend, laying dead cold on the bed. But something about her shocked her even more. Her face was shrunken, almost skeletal, and all her chubby cheeks were gone. Like something sucked everything out of her. She staggered backward in shock and heard more screams from the other compounds as well. She went out only to find more and more dead bodies, all mercilessly shrunken to death.
