Without waiting for the managers' response, the police officer moved to Shanazer.
'Miss Athens, you seem to attract trouble wherever you go. That intrigues me. Please do come with me to the police station for a statement.'
The police officer repeated.
'Is that really necessary?'
Shanazer retorted, she took a breather, 'Everyone saw what transpired here, why would you want me to give a statement?'
The officer grinned, though it appeared as a tease to Shanazer, 'It's protocol, this is an attempted murder crime, and it may not be as simple as you may look at it on the surface.' He clarified, still maintaining a happy smiley face.
Shanazer got some sense of what had been explained to her by the police officer. She, too, knew from the depth of her heart that the issue she had attached herself to wasn't going to be a small deal. It needed a thorough investigation. However, she didn't want to be part of it, but she was already entangled with it by her act of saving the young lady, Taonga. The catching of the culprit could not be ignored.
In that instance, she remembered to give an antidote to the culprit who groaned in pain. She felt pit for him.
'Let me speak to my sister, then I will be all yours.'
Shanazer assured the police officer, who nodded without complicating things.
She first gave an antidote to the culprit, time ticked off rapidly, she waited to see him recover. She found herself at Olivia's side and her family.
'I must apologize for the way things have progressed so far. I will go to the police station to give a statement. I guess I am done with dinner. Don't wait for me.' She paused, taking a short breath, 'I will come to visit another time and re-celebrate.'
'Actually it will be my treat. I, therefore, shall set a date to invite you.'
Shanazer promised them, she grinned. Xander and Consmart knew that they were not going to have a moment with the two girls, so they hurried out of the Matebeto Night Feast, glancing at Shanazer for the last time. Their eyes met. Xander cut contact first as he made his way out.
'How about we all go to the police station?'
Auntie Freya suggested on a serious note. Distracting Shanazer from her obsession and brought back her thoughts to the matter at hand.
Shanazer shook her head, 'I have already caused such havoc, and you can't cancel the orders, it will be such a huge waste.'
She did not want to be a burden to them any further. She wasn't in the wrong, so no need for them to be present. She appreciated their concern.
Auntie Freya glanced at Olivia and Vincent for their opinions. They agreed with a nod, besides, they were starving, and it wasn't a time that people threw away food so easily. They quickly analyzed, sometimes they behaved like identical twins and thought that must be the best option.
'She is right, I suppose.'
Vincent added to the already blowing fire. Auntie Freya could not go against the opinion of the majority.
'It's decided then.'
Auntie Freya admitted.
In about 3 minutes, Shanazer found herself in the police vehicle heading to the police station.
'Did you consider the proposal I offered you last time?'
The police officer kick-started a conversation as he drove. Shanazer gazed at the police officer in charge in disbelief. She remembered that she had made herself clear. Here the police officer seemed to exude persistence.
'I told you that I am not interested. How many times do I have to repeat myself?'
The police officer beamed, he had been in the army for 25 years, when he retired he joined the police force, and he had worked for 16 years as of date. One can conclude that he had some good experience.
'Look, I know when I see talent, it's obvious in you, it comes out naturally. To add on to the previous offer, I can connect you to the OxamCorp flying squad, so the possibilities of you advancing, thriving are vast and the natural talent in you would be put to good use.'
He rested a bit, 'All you have to do is to make that decision, and I will do the rest for you.'
Shanazer went silent, perhaps when the police officer touched the point of OxamCorp, it got to her. Her hesitation lingered longer than most, she considered a number of things from multiple sides she had not understood yet which kept sinking into her mind.
Her dream had been to join OxamCorp, make tons of money, become a great figure in society, the universe interestingly kept loading on her more opportunities she never imagined would even be possible. Her world started growing bigger the minute she discovered the system in her, it turned out as if all things were locked up and the system's introduction just opened up all the floodgates of heaven and poured down her storms of blessing one after another.
'What did you study, miss Athens?'
Mr Degrarosa inquired, having seen the dilemma and how deep steeped into thought she had submerged herself in.
Shanazer stared at the old man behind the police SUV who had Taonga on his lap, seeming dozing.
She smiled, trying to brighten her mood, 'I am studying computer and electronics engineering, in my second year.'
'Maybe it's best you first complete your studies. Only then can you consider adding up other fields. I can see that you are multi-talented.'
The police officer could not object, he had not taken time to find out what other things Shanazer turned out to be loaded with. He did consider that she was a shop assistant in the view of the fact that it was the first place he had an encounter with her.
He now considered taking some quality time to find out about Shanazer, probably visiting her background. He found her very fascinating. Before they could wrap up, they found themselves at the police station.
