The walk up the stairs was rather unbelievable. Rachel could blink but she could not blink up to the next floor. She could not even skip one winding within the spiraling staircase. She could only blink to each winding and see what happened.
On the first winding they really didn't understand what was happening. They first thought it was a miscalculation and tried to blink up without taking another step upward. When they couldn't do that they knew it was something to so with the staircase.
Then they experimented on the next five windings. On the first they merely stepped forward into an illusion. It was different for both of them. Rachel was placed on a similar staircase but it was inside a room of dark wood. All four walls had large windows and the doors into the room were made of a dense clear crystal.
