Chapter 124 - Ch.124 Timid in the Main World, Heavy Strikes in the Resurrection Match

"Sinister Six?"

Elderly Steve blinked, "That's the name of a supervillain team? Pretty cool."

Gwen explained, "That's what the citizens call them. Each one of them was once a terrifying criminal, and more than once, they nearly destroyed New York. If these six gather together, they might really have the power to destroy the world."

Felicia asked, "Who exactly are the members of the Sinister Six? We need to know more about them."

"I know."

At this moment, Lizard Parker retrieved a magazine from the 'pile of junk.'

Yes, a magazine published by the Daily Bugle. One particular issue featured a report on the Sinister Six.

He handed the magazine to Felicia, but the next second he changed his mind.

He handed it to Carter Peggy instead.

Felicia: "..."

Soon, Carter finished flipping through it and then passed the magazine around.

Before long, everyone had read the information about the Sinister Six, and their expressions turned a bit odd.

"With their abilities, it doesn't seem likely they could destroy the world," Elderly Steve remarked.

Charlie nodded, "Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Dr. Curt Connors, Rhino, Chameleon, Mysterio—even if they're all together, it's still not enough to destroy the world.

But if there's someone backing them from behind the scenes, maybe it's another story."

He looked at Gwen, "First, we need to find whoever helped them break out. Do you have any leads?"

"Yes, I recently discovered that Kingpin is highly suspect."

"Kingpin?" Felicia was startled, "He exists here too?"

Seeing Felicia's unsettled expression, Gwen frowned.

"Your world also has Kingpin?"

"Of course."

Felicia said, "Not just Kingpin—Green Goblin, Lizard, Rhino—I've seen all of them. But Doctor Octavius hasn't become a criminal yet."

She shot a glance at Charlie, "It's this guy who defeated them."

Gwen seemed thoughtful, "So they are destined to be Spider-Man's enemies."

She said to Charlie, "I don't know much about parallel universes, but in your world, Chameleon and Mysterio should also appear. I can tell you their weaknesses in advance, so you can prepare."

"I appreciate your kindness, but I don't think it's necessary."

Charlie raised the magazine in his hand and smiled, "The villains in your world are too weak. Your experience might mislead me."

"Really?"

Hearing this, Gwen did not think Charlie was too arrogant. Instead, her interest in the villains from Charlie's world grew.

Before she could ask, Lizard Parker said sourly, "He's not bluffing. He's really strong. Even if the Sinister Six team up, they can't beat him."

Gwen's heart stirred, "Peter, was it thanks to this Spider-Man gentleman that you could be revived?"

"Hmph, of course not. I won the Resurrection Match through my own efforts. Without him, I would've been revived long ago." Lizard Parker crossed his arms, clearly displeased when looking at Charlie.

Strangely enough, it was just displeasure, nothing more.

This made him feel conflicted inside.

Seeing Lizard Parker still holding a grudge, Elderly Steve cleared his throat.

"Ahem, first of all—"

"No 'first of all.'"

Charlie interrupted Elderly Steve's speech, then smiled at Lizard Parker. "So you mean you don't plan on joining us?"

"Of course I... I'll join!"

Lizard Parker snorted, "I'm not helping you, I'm just helping Ms. Carter."

"What about Gwen?"

"Of course, I'll help her too," Lizard Parker said, somewhat guilty.

Seeing this, Gwen couldn't help smiling.

She knew that Peter's feelings for her weren't romantic; Peter himself just couldn't tell the difference.

But she hadn't expected that Peter's preferences were a bit beyond her expectations.

She looked around the cramped room and said to Charlie and the others:

"Let's go to my place. It'll be easier to discuss our next steps there. I have plenty of rooms."

As she spoke, she looked at Lizard Parker, "Peter, if we successfully save the world this time, I'll have my father grant you an operations stipend, so you won't have to worry about rent."

"Stipend?" Lizard Parker's eyes lit up, but he tried to maintain some dignity.

"Cough, cough, even without the stipend, I'd still help you." He spoke with forced seriousness.

Charlie rolled his eyes, "As a member of the poor-guy army, I pity you.

After saving the world, you could run for president, but you're only thinking of paying rent. Truly hopeless."

"I—"

Lizard Parker's face turned red, "Mind your own business!"

"Heh heh."

"Heh heh? You're mocking me?"

"I didn't say anything else."

"I can tell. You're insulting me."

"So what? You going to tear me apart?"

"If I could beat you, I'd definitely tear you apart."

While they bickered, Gwen's phone suddenly buzzed at her waist.

She glanced at the screen, and her expression changed.

"Damn, trouble's here."

Carter frowned, "The escaped Sinister Six?"

"No, it's four strange guys."

Gwen turned the phone's screen toward everyone, "George just informed me that four suspected aliens are wreaking havoc. We must go stop them—they're on the Brooklyn Bridge."

Elderly Steve stared at the four figures in the image, his expression shifting slightly.

"It's Thanos's henchmen. Seems they've chosen the destroy side."

Charlie opened the shabby window. "What are we waiting for, then? Let's deal with them first, so there'll be four fewer enemies."

With that, he fired his webs and leaped into the night.

In the room, Elderly Steve's face grew serious. He warned the others:

"These four are aliens and very strong. Be careful later, especially watch out for their weapons. Injuries from their weapons won't heal easily. And that guy who looks like Voldemort—he's a sorcerer..."

"Who's Voldemort?" Lizard Parker weakly raised his hand.

Elderly Steve thought for a moment, "I heard Little Spider mention it, but I don't really know what it is either. Actually, you can just call him Octopus Man."

——

Brooklyn Bridge.

"Boom!!"

"Ah!! Run!!"

"Aliens have invaded Earth!"

"Mommy, take me home..."

"Oh my God, please save us..."

On the bridge, traffic was jammed. Citizens were jumping out of their cars and fleeing in terror.

Behind them, cars were crushed and exploded under invisible forces, flames illuminating the entire bridge.

Four strange figures were wantonly destroying everything they saw.

Clad in armor with rough, horned skin—like a giant reptilian brute—wielding a massive steel battle-axe, Cull Obsidian (Black Dwarf)!

Dressed in a lavish tailcoat, sparse white hair, gaunt face like some octopus-faced wizard, Ebony Maw!

Wearing a black-and-gold battle robe and wielding a deadly glaive, Corvus Glaive (the General of the Deadly Blade)!

With long green hair, horns stretching out from her eye corners, half her face covered in blue chitin, Proxima Midnight!

"Hahaha, these weak humans. Destroying them is all too easy."

Cull Obsidian smashed a car with his iron fist, roaring up at the sky. The feeling of being "alive" again excited him greatly.

Ebony Maw stood with one hand behind his back, casually waving the other. The jammed cars were instantly wrapped in invisible telekinetic force and hurled into the ocean.

He glanced at Cull Obsidian's iron fists and said coldly, "You've forgotten how a human sorcerer once severed your arm?"

Hearing this, Cull Obsidian gnashed his teeth.

"This time, I won't make the same mistake."

"You made more than one mistake," Corvus Glaive said softly, swinging his blade. The cars around him split into halves under a cold flash of steel.

"If I recall correctly, you were killed by that green coward who piloted a mech."

"That... that was me being careless."

Cull Obsidian's rebuttal sounded feeble.

Proxima Midnight paced elegantly, her trident flipping cars into the air along her path, trying to create as much commotion as possible.

"Stop arguing. I think the Save Team should arrive soon," she said coldly.

Ebony Maw nodded, "Yes, we'll lure them out and eliminate them in one fell swoop. Without those troublesome heroes, we can slowly destroy this world."

"After being revived, I will continue to follow Lord Thanos!" Corvus Glaive said firmly.

Hearing this, Cull Obsidian paused.

"Not me. I only served Thanos to protect my species. Now that I've regained my freedom, I won't go back." He spoke gruffly.

"You dare betray Lord Thanos?" Corvus Glaive's eyes turned cold instantly, pointing his blade at Cull Obsidian.

Cull Obsidian was not intimidated. He raised his iron battle-axe and snorted, "So what if I do? A traitor to your own kind, you're in no position to bark orders at me."

"Try me and see if I'm qualified," Corvus Glaive sneered.

Cull Obsidian roared, "You think I'm afraid of you?"

This sudden internal strife made Ebony Maw shake his head.

"Fools. The most important thing now is to eliminate our enemies and gain a revival slot, not fight amongst ourselves."

Proxima Midnight stood beside Corvus Glaive, her spear aimed at Cull Obsidian.

"This isn't infighting. It's removing unstable elements."

As Corvus Glaive's lover, of course she stood on his side.

Ebony Maw frowned and glanced at the nearby cars.

"Don't start yet. Someone's here."

"What?"

They froze, then saw a red-masked head peek out from behind a car.

"Uh-oh, you caught me. What bad luck."

Charlie flipped and landed on the car roof. "I heard you guys might be from Infinity War."

"Infinity War?"

The Black Order members looked at each other, confused. What was that?

The enemy finally appeared; Cull Obsidian couldn't bother with the quarrel.

Securing a revival slot was most important now.

"I know you, Spider-Man. You blocked my punch," Cull Obsidian laughed.

Charlie scratched his head, "What's so funny about that?"

Ebony Maw slowly raised his hand. The cars on the bridge twisted under telekinesis and were compressed into a giant metal sphere.

"If you're alone, then good luck to you."

With that, he moved his fingers slightly. The colossal metal ball descended like a meteor.

"Boom!!"

A thunderous explosion made the bridge tremble. As car fragments flew, the red-and-blue figure used webbing to swing onto the bridge's suspension cables.

"You won't escape."

Ebony Maw narrowed his eyes. With another gesture, the iron chains of the bridge snapped under telekinesis, forming a cage of twisted metal around Charlie.

"Clang, clang, clang!"

The chains collided with crisp sounds, but before the makeshift cage could close, four dark-gold mechanical spider-arms burst forth, tearing the chains apart as they emerged, then stretched out and coiled into position.

"Boom, boom, boom!!"

A series of explosions followed. Ebony Maw used a car as a shield, but in the next moment, the spider-arms punched right through the car, lunging at Ebony Maw's face. Their strength was formidable.

"Buzz~"

Ebony Maw's expression remained unchanged. His invisible telekinetic power spread out, and the spider-arms approaching his face twisted under tremendous force.

"Crack, crack, crack."

Sparks flew from the spider-arms as they became scrap. Before Ebony Maw could react, the car in front of him exploded with a deafening roar, terrifying force tearing everything apart.

At this moment, Proxima Midnight finally took action.

"Buzz~"

Her spear shot forward, transforming mid-flight into three crimson beams that locked onto Charlie's body.

Warned by his Spider-Sense, Charlie had no choice but to retreat, missing the best chance to assassinate Ebony Maw.

"Whoosh~"

Charlie fired webs rapidly, swinging into the night sky, but the three red beams continued to chase him relentlessly.

These were special weapons forged by Thanos for Proxima Midnight. When thrown, they split into three pursuit beams that would not stop until they killed their target.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

In an instant, Charlie twisted in mid-air, and the three crimson beams streaked past his side.

Missing once, the three beams turned around again, hurtling toward Charlie.

"What a nuisance."

Charlie cursed under his breath, continuously firing webs to dodge the beams' pursuit.

In the last Resurrection Match, Thanos's minions were no weaker than these four, but back then they faced the nearly invincible Dark Strange. Thus, they became mere cannon fodder.

This time, Charlie personally experienced the terrifying pressure from the Black Order.

Facing all four alone was tough.

Proxima Midnight watched Charlie's evasive maneuvers and sneered silently.

He's just an insect. He can't dodge forever.

Corvus Glaive frowned, "His webbing is strange, as if someone's guiding him."

"It's spatial magic," Ebony Maw explained.

"No, there's another kind of magic."

Cull Obsidian exclaimed. The moment he spoke, the night sky abruptly bloomed with a spider totem pattern.

"Buzz!!"

"Chirp, chirp, chirp~"

The instant the Little Spider bit into Charlie's hand, the power of the spider totem poured into his body. Brilliant webbing began to spread across his entire form.

"Boom!!"

The next moment, the spider totem exploded, lighting up the night sky like dazzling fireworks.

"Whoosh~~"

Violent winds howled. Under the furious surge of magical energy, the trident thrown by Proxima Midnight was blasted back and stuck into the ground, its shaft quivering and humming nonstop.

This shocked everyone.

"The artifact failed. It didn't kill Spider-Man!"

"Damn, this isn't the same insect we faced before!"

Proxima Midnight cried out in alarm, then watched as the resplendent totem in the night sky blossomed once again.

"Boom!!"

At once, the gigantic spider totem converged into a single point. The red-and-blue figure shot downward from a webbing 'slingshot,' like a brilliant meteor streaking across the sky, its momentum terrifying.

At the same time, Carter—who had just arrived—looked up at the meteor in the sky with a very peculiar expression.

"Timid in the main world, heavy strikes in the Resurrection Match."

Why hadn't he used this move when fighting Kingpin?
