About Half An Hour Ago
Rin and Chiyo sat in deep silence as the car rolled down the streets. The only sound was the soft hum of the engine, with Chiyo staring tensely out the window.
Rin sighed, breaking the quiet. "Don't be so stiff. I'm not a criminal, you know." She turned on the radio, letting the music fill the awkward space.
Chiyo scoffed. "You kidnapped me. That's already an attempted crime."
"You were too noisy. I couldn't afford problems with the cops."
Rin's voice was casual, but Chiyo could tell she wasn't just being cautious—there was something she didn't want authorities sniffing around.
Chiyo let out a slow breath and shifted in her seat. "Do you… know Haruto well? I mean, you two don't seem like you're the same age, so…"
She was trying to figure out if Rin was another one of Haruto's flings or just an acquaintance. Given how they interacted, she suspected the latter.
"Oh, I met him yesterday," Rin answered nonchalantly, one hand turning the wheel.
