The VIP ward floor was unusually quiet. Fu Jinghen stood at the door, his hand just touching the doorknob when he heard laughter coming from inside. He looked up, slowly releasing his grasp.
Inside the ward, Wen Qiao was wearing a pink tracksuit, still sporting her signature pigtails, waving her arms as she shared some amusing stories with Jiang Lai. She even stood up from her chair when she got to the exciting parts, keeping Jiang Lai's smile ever-present.
Fu Jinghen just stood there quietly, watching the warm scene of mother and daughter interacting, his body and mind unconsciously relaxing.
After who knows how long, Jiang Lai began to feel tired and closed her eyes to sleep. Wen Qiao tucked her in, adjusted the air conditioning temperature, and then tiptoed out.
She turned around and was startled to see Fu Jinghen standing at the door, "Fuck, what are you doing here?"
