Daddy Zhaozhao and Zhaozhao's mother exchanged a glance, both having surprise in their eyes.
But more than that, there was joy.
After a brief moment of surprise, Zhaozhao's mother looked at Sheng Chuyi and then at Shen Zhaozhao, displaying an expression that said a good cabbage had been scooped up by a pig, and turned to Sheng Chuyi saying, "Yiyi, sorry for the trouble."
Shen Zhaozhao blinked. Was something off about this progression?
"Why is it him who's troubled? What's he got to be troubled about?" As if she wasn't good enough!
Zhaozhao's mother glared at her and said, "What do you think? Look at Yiyi, who from childhood to now in looks, academics, and social dealings isn't much better than you? Your only strength is your luck." It was pure dumb luck that she had snagged such a great match.
"Who exactly are your biological children? Who talks about their own daughter like this?" Shen Zhaozhao protested.
Aunt Shu Ran rolled her eyes. "Could it be that I'm wrong?"
