Jimmy had come to this building for the first time. He had passed by it many times before and had always found it completely out of harmony with its surroundings. The building looked more like a fortress; with no windows and only huge ventilation holes, it appeared rugged, powerful, and impregnable.
Before this visit, Jimmy had tried to look up information about the building, but all he could find was that it belonged to AT&T and had initially been used as a telephone switchboard station. In the early days, telephone calls needed to be manually connected. To ensure safety, the building was designed without windows to withstand hurricanes.
As the telephone system improved and the world entered the digital age, telephone switch stations became obsolete, and the building lost its original function. Ownership remained with AT&T, but it was leased out, unfortunately no further information was available.
