Chapter 116 - Ch.116 Jujutsu: Thunder Bagua!

Hayashi quickly found the place where the Longyuan family stored their jujutsu scrolls. However, this place was located beneath the largest building in the central area and was protected by a barrier.

Above, inside the building, a row of red candles illuminated the surroundings. There were five people around a central tea table.

Four of them were seated around the table: an elderly man with white hair, a stern middle-aged man with a single eye and black hair, a beautiful woman in her thirties, and a masked person of indeterminate gender.

There was also a tall, slender man with long black hair flowing down to his waist, a pale face, sword-like eyebrows, and sharp eyes, standing quietly beside the four.

Hayashi didn't listen to their conversation. Instead, he directly condensed his cursed energy into a single line and struck the barrier protecting the jujutsu library.

Focusing his energy into a point, he quickly created a breach in the barrier. Hayashi instantly used his "Time Flash" technique to enter, and the barrier closed swiftly behind him.

After accomplishing this, Hayashi couldn't observe the outside anymore unless he attacked the barrier again, but that didn't matter now.

The jujutsu library was eerily silent, as if sound itself had been sealed off, and even the air felt thin. What puzzled Hayashi was why, despite the thin air, the candles on the walls were still burning and never seemed to go out. It was as if some jujutsu had been cast on them.

"I'll think about that later; I need to make the most of my time," Hayashi thought as he scanned the surroundings. The bookshelves were filled with various jujutsu scrolls. There were even fewer jujutsu scrolls here than at the headquarters of the Night Owl organization, but Hayashi knew that this place couldn't be compared to a place like Night Owl.

He casually opened a book, and his attention was immediately drawn.

[Technique - Coiling Flood Dragon. Requires 300 points.]

Although he didn't know the specific power of this technique, it wouldn't be weak if it required 300 points. It seemed to be a technique used for restraining.

Since Hayashi's points were limited, he couldn't afford to learn every technique he saw. That would deplete his points too quickly. He needed to find the most cost-effective jujutsu, focusing on quality over quantity.

Of course, since he had gone through so much trouble to get here, he needed to learn at least two techniques.

Hayashi continued flipping through the books, one after another.

[Jujutsu - Mirror Defense. Requires 250 points.]

[Jujutsu - Ghost Eyes. Requires 300 points.]

[Jujutsu - Earth Shine. Requires 300 points.]

[Jujutsu - Ice Tornado. Requires 250 points.]

[Jujutsu - Brain Shield. Requires 300 points.]

[Jujutsu - Extreme Wall of Wind. Requires 200 points.]

[Jujutsu - Heart Mirror. Requires 300 points.]

[Jujutsu - Eight Trigrams Technique. Requires 400 points.]

After skimming through the visible jujutsu scrolls, Hayashi was impressed. Compared to the jujutsu at Longyuan, Night Owl's collection was garbage. Even the lowest-grade jujutsu here required at least 200 points, which was saying something.

Hayashi really wanted to learn many of these techniques, especially the Brain Shield and Heart Mirror, which seemed specifically designed to counter certain bizarre curses.

The Brain Shield could effectively prevent attacks targeting a jujutsu sorcerer's brain by creating a mental defense layer around it, protecting against spying and mental attacks.

Though Hayashi hadn't encountered any curses that could directly attack the brain, it didn't mean he wouldn't in the future, so he was considering learning it.

The Heart Mirror, on the other hand, could protect a jujutsu sorcerer's heart and prevent or minimize damage caused by attacks targeting the spirit.

With these two defensive techniques, Hayashi wouldn't be affected by Hanami's enchanting flowers if he encountered her again.

However, Brain Shield and Heart Mirror together required 600 points, which was quite expensive.

"I'll check the others first." Hayashi hadn't made a decision yet. He still had some special techniques he wanted to see. He could decide after checking those.

Hayashi had almost looked through all the scrolls on the shelves, but there were four ancient boxes on the frontmost shelf, each of them locked.

The locks were of the old-fashioned type. Hayashi picked up one of them and inserted his cursed energy into it. He could clearly see the structure inside and easily opened one of the boxes.

Inside the ancient box was a quietly lying, yellowed book.

Hayashi picked it up with both hands and opened the first page, his expression changing immediately.

[Jujutsu - Thunder Bagua. Requires 500 points.]

"Thunder Bagua?" Hayashi looked at the jujutsu in his hands, shocked. Although he didn't know if this Thunder Bagua had any connection to Kaido, just the points requirement was astounding.

If he compared the points to curses, 500 points was equivalent to the level of five newly ascended special-grade curses. Excluding Hayashi's unique case, this would be an incredibly rare technique anywhere.

Hayashi had already made up his mind. He would leave the Heart Mirror and Brain Shield for another time. He had to learn at least two of the techniques from these four boxes. He decided he would learn the Thunder Roaring Eight Trigrams this time.

He had enough points to learn the Thunder Roaring Eight Trigrams, but if he used them up, it would be difficult to learn another technique of similar value. He didn't have that many points.

"Let's see what else is in these boxes." Hayashi quickly unlocked the second box and took out the jujutsu scroll inside.

[Jujutsu - Dragon Travels the World. Requires 500 points.]

"Another 500-point technique." Hayashi didn't delve into the specifics of this Dragon Travels the World jujutsu, but if it required 500 points, it couldn't be weak.

He opened the next box.

[Jujutsu - Indestructible Diamond Body. Requires 500 points.]

Although this jujutsu seemed strong, it was somewhat redundant with Hayashi's Crimson Armor, so there was no need to learn it. Having too many defensive techniques wasn't necessary, at least not for now.

The last box.

[Jujutsu - Breathing Technique. Requires 1,000 points.]

"1,000 points???" Hayashi froze in place, the jujutsu scroll in his hand suddenly feeling much heavier.

This was the most powerful jujutsu in Longyuan. With such a high point requirement, Hayashi couldn't learn it right now. It was like a treasure that could only be looked at but not taken.

Upon closer inspection, Hayashi discovered that this Breathing Technique could increase the purity of cursed energy, enhancing all jujutsu techniques. In other words, it was a comprehensive enhancement technique for all abilities.

After reading this, Hayashi lost some interest. He already had the Power Multiplier, which also increased damage. The effect was similar to the unclaimed Multiple Damage from the premium version.

So, this Breathing Technique might be the ultimate treasure for other jujutsu sorcerers, but to Hayashi, it wasn't as essential.

Hayashi figured that no one in the Longyuan family had mastered any of these four precious jujutsu techniques. Perhaps one or two people might have, but definitely no more than three.

It took quite a bit of time to go through everything, so Hayashi decided to learn the Thunder Roaring Eight Trigrams first, immediately spending the precious 500 points.

[Congratulations! You have acquired Thunder Bagua!]

"Success." Hayashi felt a surge of excitement. After learning the Thunder Bagua, he was even more stunned.

This Thunder Bagua was almost identical to Kaido's technique, nearly the same.

However, Hayashi didn't need a spiked club. When he activated the Thunder Bagua, a lightning elemental spiked club would directly form in his hand, which he could then use to attack.

This was definitely a powerful offensive technique. Hayashi felt a wave of joy—this trip had indeed been worth it.
