One week later, in the afternoon.
George returned to the school from the New York Sanctum via Apparition.
Throughout the week, he had taken time every day to visit the Sanctum and consult the Ancient One about time magic.
The Ancient One, being something of a laid-back old sage, actually had plenty of free time. Apart from teaching her disciples and enjoying tea, she had little else to do. Without dimensional demon invasions, the minor issues could be easily handled by her many students.
After all, Kamar-Taj had no shortage of sorcerers.
Even with access to the Ancient One's guidance, George still found the complexity of time magic far beyond his expectations. However, it did greatly improve his efficiency in researching the Super Magic—Fairy Sphere.
Now he finally understood why Makarov had said this magic was incredibly difficult.
He couldn't help but admire the original generation of wizards who had created such advanced magic—their talent was truly monstrous.
"George, someone claiming to be an Inhuman is here, saying it's urgent and they need to see you,"
Just as George returned to the school and was about to review what he had learned that day, Professor X's voice suddenly rang out in his mind.
In a flash, George appeared in the school's main conference room.
Inside were Professor X, Wolverine, and a woman with sharp spikes protruding from her head.
"What's going on?" George asked.
Professor X pointed at the woman in front of them.
"She called the school pretending to apply for a teaching position, but in reality, she has urgent business with you. She claims to be an Inhuman."
"Inhuman, huh? If I remember correctly, you people were helping Hydra against us not long ago."
George looked calmly at the spiky-haired woman as he spoke.
He remembered that during the confrontation in Washington, those who helped Hydra intercept them were indeed Inhumans.
What puzzled him was why the Inhumans of this world were involved with Hydra at all.
By all accounts, they should have been mortal enemies. If he recalled correctly, their female leader had been dismembered by a Hydra scientist.
But since this wasn't the same universe, there could be many differences.
"We were forced to help Hydra. They captured our families and used them to threaten us. We had no choice."
The spiky-haired woman quickly explained.
George walked over to stand directly across from her, his expression cold.
"So, what's your purpose in coming here today?"
He had no interest in whether the Inhumans had been threatened by Hydra, nor in the nature of their relationship.
As long as Hydra didn't come after his people directly, even if they blew up the White House, it had nothing to do with him.
He'd rather spend his time studying time magic than meddling in other people's problems.
He wasn't a savior, nor did he possess such boundless compassion.
"My name is Raina. My ability allows me to see glimpses of the future. A great disaster is about to befall this world, and our Inhuman race will be caught in it. Only you can save us—all of us."
Seeing George frown, Raina hurried to elaborate:
"Hydra's Sin has obtained terrifying power from a hammer, and she has released an evil god called 'Serpent' from the depths of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean.
In the future I saw, this Serpent unleashed a horrific calamity.
Our leader says if you are willing to help us and rescue our loved ones, then the entire Inhuman race will join your school and follow your command."
Compared to the cruel Hydra, George—who was willing to accept and protect superpowered individuals—was clearly the better choice.
So, after seeing the vision of the future, their leader Jia Ying secretly sent Raina to George under the pretense of applying for a job, hoping to seize this chance to completely break free from Hydra's control.
"A great disaster… an evil god named Serpent?"
A flicker of doubt passed through George's eyes.
He was familiar with Sin. Although he hadn't heard of her in his previous life, she did appear in Zola's information database. She was the illegitimate daughter of Red Skull, born unexpectedly, and possessed a portion of Red Skull's genetic makeup.
Her physical abilities were slightly above those of an average human, but within Hydra's vast organization, she held little real status.
As for the Serpent—he had absolutely no knowledge of such a being.
The only "Serpent" he could recall was from The King of Fighters—the one who could unleash solar particles and had the power to destroy the world. But that Serpent didn't belong to the Marvel Universe, and clearly, this wasn't that Serpent.
However, Raina, this Inhuman, truly did possess the ability to glimpse fragments of the future, and George's telepathic abilities confirmed she wasn't lying.
"It seems Hydra should probably be eliminated sooner rather than later."
Initially, he hadn't considered Hydra a serious threat to him and hadn't paid them much attention.
He had even thought that leaving them around could serve to annoy the world's governments, preventing them from doing something stupid—like trying to take control of the Superpower Academy.
But now it seemed that while Hydra might not pose a direct threat, they had a knack for stirring up trouble—trouble that could bring forth genuinely dangerous entities, like this so-called evil god lurking in the deep sea, the Serpent.
He wondered just what kind of being it was. Could it be an avatar of some dimensional demon? Otherwise, how could it endanger the entire world?
"Alright, I'll help rescue your people. But in return, I want you to gather as much intel as possible about this Serpent."
After a moment of thought, George agreed to Raina's request.
For him, finding and rescuing those relatives hidden by Hydra was a trivial matter.
As long as he had their names, he could use tracking spells to locate and free them, one by one.
What truly concerned him now was uncovering the origins of this so-called evil god, the Serpent.
"No problem! Our leader, Jiaying, is usually kept at Baron Strucker's base, so she has access to top-level Hydra intelligence," Raina quickly replied.
"Write down the names of everyone Hydra is holding hostage. Then call over that Inhuman of yours who can teleport—I'm heading out."
George gave Raina a few instructions and asked Professor X to keep an eye on her. Then, he used Apparition once again to return to the New York Sanctum.
He intended to consult the Ancient One to see if she had any knowledge about this evil god Serpent.
"Master George, you're back again?"
The sorcerer guarding the Sanctum was surprised to see George reappear.
George smiled.
"I need to speak with the Sorcerer Supreme. Is she still here?"
"She returned to Kamar-Taj right after you left," the sorcerer replied. "If you want to find her, go to the second floor. There's a portal that leads directly to Kamar-Taj."
"Alright, I'll head there now."
George turned and made his way upstairs.
While Kamar-Taj sorcerers typically conjured portals by drawing circles, doing so consumed personal magical energy.
That's why the Ancient One had constructed magical gateways within each Sanctum. Even novice sorcerers who hadn't yet mastered portal creation could use these gates to travel anywhere in the world.
