Chapter 161 - Chapter 158: Demonstration (Bonus 10)

Chapter 158: Demonstration

Generally speaking, cases in formal courts are sometimes postponed, but rarely are they moved up! Bob's case was originally scheduled for next Thursday, but now it has been moved to this Friday, which is the day after tomorrow.

Originally, Hobert wanted to find a few witnesses, but now he has no time at all!

Something's not right!

Hobert immediately realized that something was very wrong.

Just then, the receptionist from the law firm entered the office: "Lawyer Hobert, someone is looking for you."

"Oh." Hobert came to his senses, put away the official letter, pondering how to respond, and went to the reception room.

In the reception room, there was a well-dressed butler who smiled and said, "Mr. Hobert, my master Mr. Arnold invites you to a dinner tonight. Here's the invitation."

Hobert looked at the butler and suddenly understood. He smiled and said, "Alright, I'll definitely go."

The butler nodded slightly, politely bid farewell to Hobert.

Hobert tossed the invitation on the desk, glanced at the official letter again, and realized this was a demonstration!

He sat in his chair, crossed his arms, and began to ponder how to deal with it.

Ten minutes later, he suddenly jumped up from his chair, threw on his coat, grabbed his briefcase and cane, and quickly left the law firm.

As soon as he left, Hobert noticed two tailing men following him almost openly.

This was also part of the demonstration.

Hobert shook his head with a smile. If this had been in ancient times, when these people threatened his family and his life, he might have compromised.

But now he wasn't compromising at all. If they pushed him too far, he might just storm Arnold's house and hang him from a lamppost.

But it wasn't time to flip the table yet. Back at the rental house, Fors was dining, and Xio was yawning, preparing to nap again after a little more preparation.

Fors saw Hobert: "Is it only a few points? You're off work already?"

"I have urgent matters!" Hobert said, "Xio, I'll take up your rest time to give you an urgent commission."

He handed her a neatly arranged note: "Remember Arnold, the employer of my client Bob?"

Xio put down her magazine: "I remember."

Hobert said, "The names on the note are former employees of Arnold's factory. Go find them as quickly as possible. It's okay if you don't find them all; four or five will do."

"Then ask them to testify in court on Friday. You can give them some money, but when you give them money, make it clear that it's compensation for their lost wages, not for testifying."

As he spoke, he took out 30 pounds in cash: "This is the commission for this task."

Xio took 20: "This will do." She said, putting on her hat and leaving immediately.

Hobert then turned to Fors, who was eating slowly: "I have a commission for you too. Go to Viscount Glaint's mansion and inform him and Miss Audrey that I will hold an emergency meeting of the 'Justice League' tomorrow morning."

He took out a 2 pound note from his wallet as he spoke.

Fors, however, only took out one pound: "It's just delivering a message, one pound is enough."

She began to speed up her meal.

Hobert said hello and left immediately, with the two tailing men arrogantly smoking at his doorstep.

Hobert walked forward as if nothing had happened. As he passed them, Hobert suddenly approached them, lifted his foot, and stomped hard!

Crunch~

The sound of the arch bone breaking.

The stomped man yelled in pain, hopping around holding his foot.

The other tailing man hadn't figured out what was going on yet, and Hobert lifted his foot again and stomped hard!

So there were two people on the street hopping around holding their feet.

Hobert smiled and shook his head, "Sorry for stepping on your feet. Please watch where you're walking in the future, or I might accidentally step on your heads."

After saying that, Hobert called a cab and left, leaving behind two crying men holding their feet.

Passers-by on the street were puzzled. It was just a footstep, why were they in so much pain?

Hobert took a cab to Obsidian Bar, gave the bartender a tip, and asked him to bring Daly Simone over.

Several minutes later, a black-haired woman in her thirties followed the bartender back: "Let me introduce myself, Loretta, your new contact."

She had a decent appearance and dressed somewhat masculine, giving her a unique sense of androgynous beauty.

Hobert was stunned, "Where's Miss Daly?"

She didn't quit her job because she couldn't save Dunn, did she?

Loretta whispered, "She joined the Red Gloves and just left today. I'll be your contact from now on."

Hobert nodded slowly, "I understand. Hello, Ms. Loretta, I'm Hobert. I believe I don't need to introduce myself too thoroughly, right?"

"No need." Loretta smiled, "You're a special case in the entire Nighthawks team of the Loen Kingdom."

She asked, "It's not payday yet. What's the matter?"

Hobert smiled bitterly. Who told you I was so eager to get paid?

He asked back, "Do you know about Bob's case?"

"I've heard of it."

"Recently, the defendant Arnold is using some despicable means to try to win the lawsuit," Hobert said, "I want you guys to protect Mr. Bob closely in the next day or two. If he dies, this lawsuit won't go on."

Loretta said, "The church also attaches great importance to this case. I believe the captain will send someone to protect Mr. Bob after receiving your message."

Hobert picked up his cane, ready to get up, "Then I'll leave it to you."

Then he suddenly remembered, "By the way, when I met Qilangos before, please ask Captain Thomas to help me pick up my cane that I left at the scene.

"I forgot to ask when I went to the security company last time. Is the cane with you?"

Loretta was stunned, "There was no cane at the scene."

"It's a black sandalwood stick."

"There's no black sandalwood stick." Loretta said, "I was at the scene at the time, and the captain mentioned this, and didn't find the cane you mentioned."

Hobert had a bad feeling, "Someone picked it up!"

At the time, the home was in a terrible mess, and the people who looked around were probably only going to scream and run away at a glance, with only a small probability of taking them away.

The greater likelihood is that someone has taken away the cane for a clear purpose.

This was the second "Wood of Order" that couldn't be completely recovered. If it weren't for its high level and sufficient anti-divination properties, Hobert would have considered joining the Nighthawks team completely now.

Loretta asked, "Is that cane special?"

"Nothing." Hobert smiled, "I just suddenly remembered this."
