Strange was stunned as he watched the enormous piles of money fall from the sky. He couldn't help but sigh, "To be honest, this is more shocking than anything I've ever seen on TV."
Luo Bai simply smiled, then picked up the cup on the table and took a sip of tea.
It was just a normal action, but with his sharp eyes, Strange noticed something unusual—the moment Luo Bai picked up the teacup, it turned into solid gold!
"What kind of magic is this? Some kind of transmutation spell?" Strange pointed at the teacup and asked hurriedly.
"You can think of it that way," Luo Bai replied, placing the teacup back on the table.
Strange fell silent.
He stared at the teacup, now pure gold, deep in thought.
Only now did he realize how ridiculous his earlier words were. If a sorcerer could turn objects into gold and summon money at will, how could they ever be short of wealth? They must be unimaginably rich!
Thinking of this, Strange sighed helplessly. "I'm sorry… I don't know much about sorcerers. I had no idea they were so wealthy."
Luo Bai didn't respond. Instead, he simply restored everything to its original state.
After everything returned to normal, he calmly asked, "Alright, Doctor Strange, let's get back to the main issue. Have you thought about the conditions I mentioned?"
Strange understood what Luo Bai meant. After a moment of contemplation, he slowly said,
"You're very well-known in the U.S. I see you on TV all the time. Whether it's the news or the internet, whenever someone searches for magicians, your name comes up."
"They say you're incredibly powerful, that you can perform real magic, that you can create miracles… To be honest, before I lost my hands, I never paid attention to this kind of thing. I even thought it was just media hype or some kind of publicity stunt."
"But now… I realize it's all real."
"I always thought I'd be a doctor for the rest of my life. I never imagined I'd end up becoming a sorcerer."
Strange sighed as he spoke.
Seeing this, Luo Bai smiled and asked, "You seem afraid."
Strange didn't deny it—he admitted it openly.
"I won't lie. I am a little scared. After all, I've been a doctor for many years, and everyone praised me as a genius in the medical field."
"I always believed my medical skills were something to be proud of. But now, I've lost everything. And instead of returning to my career, I'm stepping into a world I know nothing about."
"I've gone from a genius to an apprentice. I've never practiced magic before, and that terrifies me."
Luo Bai understood his feelings well and nodded. "That's natural. Most people would struggle to accept such a drastic change. It's frightening to go from being celebrated to being unknown."
"I appreciate that you understand me," Strange said sincerely.
But just as he finished speaking, Luo Bai suddenly asked, "But you have nothing now. Since you've already lost everything, what else is there to be afraid of?"
Strange was momentarily stunned, unable to respond.
After a long silence, he finally came to a realization.
Luo Bai was right. He had come to Kamar-Taj because he had nothing left.
And if he had nothing, then he had nothing to lose.
That thought suddenly cleared his mind. He smiled bitterly, shaking his head in self-mockery. "Yeah… I really have nothing left."
After saying that, he looked at Luo Bai and, with newfound determination, answered, "Alright. I accept your conditions. As long as you heal my hands, I will stay here and study magic."
Now that Strange had agreed to stay and learn magic, Luo Bai naturally had to keep his promise.
Without hesitation, he cast a spell to alter reality.
A red light flashed—reality shifted in an instant.
In the blink of an eye, Strange's trembling hands returned to normal.
It happened so quickly that even Strange himself couldn't react.
It wasn't until he suddenly realized that his hands had stopped shaking and twitching that the truth sank in.
At first, he couldn't believe it.
His eyes widened in shock as he stared at his hands.
Opening and closing them repeatedly, he clenched his fists, then stretched his fingers—testing their movements over and over again.
After a long pause, he finally looked at Luo Bai in astonishment and asked, "This… my hands… they're healed?"
"Of course," Luo Bai replied with a smile. "That's magic."
His tone was casual, as if it were nothing remarkable.
But to Strange, it was absolutely unbelievable.
As a doctor, he understood the sheer effort required to cure a patient.
From diagnosis and research to analyzing treatment plans and performing surgery…
How much time, energy, and expertise did it all require?
And yet, for a sorcerer, it took nothing more than a simple gesture?
Even though Strange had known magic existed, experiencing it firsthand was something else entirely.
If he could learn magic, he could cure countless patients in an instant—just like Luo Bai.
So… isn't being a sorcerer far better than being a doctor?
What was he even hesitating about?
A doctor can heal people.
A sorcerer can do that too.
But a sorcerer can also do what doctors can't.
At that moment, Strange's eyes suddenly became clear.
The hesitation and conflict that had plagued him before were gone, replaced by excitement and urgency.
Before Luo Bai could react, Strange suddenly asked excitedly, "Sorcerer Supreme, when can I start learning magic?"
His eyes burned with desire as he stared at Luo Bai eagerly.
For a moment, Luo Bai was caught off guard by the sudden shift in Strange's expression.
"Weren't you just brooding over the fact that you couldn't return to being a doctor? Why are you suddenly so eager to learn magic?" Luo Bai couldn't help but comment.
The moment he finished speaking, Strange responded with enthusiasm, "Because I've figured it out! Being a sorcerer sounds pretty damn good! Sorcerer Supreme, please teach me magic. I want to learn everything you just did!!"
Strange's passion for magic had skyrocketed. He was practically desperate to start learning.
Although Luo Bai appreciated the enthusiasm, he couldn't ignore how filthy Strange looked after his long journey. With a disgusted expression, he remarked, "We can put off learning magic for now. I suggest you take a shower first."
And so, under Wong's guidance, Strange left the main hall.
After Strange was gone, Luo Bai suddenly remembered something.
Normally, new apprentices at Kamar-Taj were trained by Mordo. But now that Mordo was gone, someone else needed to take on that responsibility.
After some thought, Wong seemed to be the only high-ranking sorcerer qualified to teach them.
With that decision made, Luo Bai assigned the other mages to manage the library.
As for Wong, he was tasked with training the new apprentices.
Having dealt with Strange's situation, Luo Bai thought he could finally take a break. He was even considering heading back to his own dimension to create some vampires or something.
But just as that thought crossed his mind—
He felt a disturbance.
Before he could react, a powerful presence materialized before him.
Odin appeared.
Luo Bai: "???"
What the hell??
Why is Odin here?!
