Chapter 234 - 234. Invitation to the Guardian Auction

Lin Xiaohan was mainly talking about his own experiences, and Jason Liu could only respond with a single sentence before excusing himself.

Jiang Chuchu listened to their conversation, with one person calling "Xiaohan" and the other "Jason," and couldn't help but roll her eyes. It felt like she was being force-fed their romance, and suddenly, the squid she was eating didn't taste as good anymore.

Meanwhile, Emma and Emily, two food lovers who preferred to stay unnoticed, chose to remain silent.

Anyone with common sense could tell that their boss and Manager Lin were clearly a couple!

So, they decided to focus on enjoying their seafood feast and not interfere with the sweet atmosphere between the two lovebirds. They couldn't help but complain in their hearts, though—if they had known this was how things would be, they would have chosen a different table. Sitting here, listening to their awkward conversation, made them struggle to hold back their laughter.

No one expected Mr. Liu, a handsome and successful man, to be so clumsy when talking to a woman. His topics were repetitive:

"Have you eaten? What are you eating? Are you tired from work? Drink more hot water. Get some rest early."

It was clear he had no idea how to flirt. No wonder, as Manager Jiang had mentioned before, that before meeting Manager Lin, their big boss had been single for four years in college and another two years at work!

With such an awkward approach to wooing a woman, it would have been a miracle if he wasn't single!

Emily and Emma, afraid they might burst out laughing, kept their heads down and focused on eating.

Jiang Chuchu had already lost count of how many times she had secretly rolled her eyes. Is this really how you two usually talk?

If she hadn't known better, she would have assumed he was an overprotective father fussing over his daughter instead of a man talking to his girlfriend.

Lin Xiaohan felt helpless too. Jason Liu was incredibly dense when it came to relationships. He kept repeating the same few phrases, unable to come up with any new topics.

What made it worse was that, as a former campus beauty, Lin Xiaohan was used to being flattered and showered with attention. She had always been on the receiving end of charming words and never had to work hard to keep a conversation going. Since she had no real dating experience herself, she didn't know how to guide their discussions either.

As a result, their chats went in a loop between "What are you eating?" "Are you busy at work?" and "Make sure to rest early."

It was a little embarrassing.

However, Jason Liu didn't seem to notice anything wrong. He just kept smiling, apparently satisfied with how the conversation was going.

Lin Xiaohan could only sigh. Ah, this man is truly hopeless!

Still, she had to admit—having a boyfriend like Jason Liu wasn't entirely bad. At least she never had to worry about him flirting with other women. His complete lack of skill in sweet-talking was oddly reassuring.

After all, he was tall, handsome, and only 25 years old, yet he had already built a fortune worth hundreds of millions. On top of that, he was the boss of a trading company.

With those qualifications, many women would throw themselves at him without hesitation.

Even though Lin Xiaohan was confident in her own beauty, she knew there were many other beautiful women out there—some even more stunning than herself. She felt lucky to have met Jason Liu, a man who was perfect in almost every way.

So what if he was a bit dense when it came to romance? It was a small flaw, and it didn't make her feel insecure about their relationship.

As they ate, Jason Liu's phone suddenly rang.

He walked to a quieter place to answer it. The caller was Daniel, the deputy general manager of Guardian Auctions.

Daniel informed him that Guardian Auctions would be holding a special National Day auction at the Hilton Hotel in Magic Capital at 8 PM on October 1st.

The gold bullion that Jason had entrusted to the auction house would be featured at this event.

Vice President Daniel invited him to attend, suggesting that he might find something interesting at the auction.

Jason Liu was genuinely intrigued. He had only ever heard about luxury auctions from the news, where antiques, calligraphy, and paintings were sold for astronomical prices. He had never attended one in person.

This was a great opportunity. Since he didn't have any pressing commitments, he agreed to attend.

A few minutes later, he received an electronic invitation letter from Guardian Auctions on his phone.

Looking at the invitation, Jason Liu thought to himself, I wonder what this auction will be like. I'm curious to see it for myself.

Returning to his seat, he hesitated for a moment before turning to Lin Xiaohan. "Do you have any plans for National Day?"

Lin Xiaohan was enjoying her dessert when she heard his question. Tilting her head thoughtfully, she replied, "For National Day, Chuchu and I are planning a trip to Sanya with my parents. Why do you ask?"

Seeing her curious expression, Jason explained that he had just received an invitation to the auction in Magic Capital. He had been thinking about inviting her to go with him so they could spend some time together and strengthen their relationship.

Jiang Chuchu, who was sitting beside Lin Xiaohan, perked up at the mention of an "auction."

However, remembering their plans to travel with Lin Xiaohan's parents, she sighed regretfully. "Ah, what a pity! I would have loved to see how the rich people bid at an auction, but now I'm going to miss it."

Lin Xiaohan also looked at Jason with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, I won't be able to go with you." She did feel a bit regretful that she couldn't join him at the event.

Jason, however, just smiled and reassured her, "It's okay, there will always be a next time. We'll go together in the future."

He then turned to Jiang Chuchu and teased, "Didn't you want to see the auction where all the rich people gather? Then work hard, and maybe next time I'll take you with me!"

Jiang Chuchu widened her eyes and pouted. "Hey! You're such a heartless capitalist!"

She crossed her arms and huffed, "I've been running around every day, trying to rebuild the sales channels for Ironwood Timber Co. I even lose sleep thinking about work. I'm already working so hard—what more do you want from me?"

She then turned to Lin Xiaohan and pleaded for support. "Xiaohan, don't you think he's being too harsh on me?"

Lin Xiaohan covered her mouth and giggled before nodding. "Mhm, Chuchu is right! She's been working really hard. You shouldn't bully her."

Jason Liu chuckled at their playful complaints, shaking his head as the meal continued.
