When he came out of the bathroom, neither Kelsie nor his grandfather were in the ward.
Jack was a creature of habit. Whenever he left his ward in the middle of the day, it was to go on a stroll with his caregivers.
And he only did that whenever he was distressed about something.
Presently, Daniel could see him hurrying away while his caregivers struggled to keep up with his pace.
Pursing his lips, it didn't take Daniel long to realize he was upset.

He hadn't heard anyone anyone come in while he was in the bathroom. So he was sure Kelsie was the only one with him.
So if no one came into the ward with any unsettling news, then it had to be what Kelsie said during their conversations.

He instantly trailed off, his eyes widening in realization.
