"Oh, come on!" Rynar had just sliced off a piece of meat when he turned to look at the others.
He was instantly speechless—the arm-length grilled fish had already been torn apart by the others with forks and knives at lightning speed, leaving only a lonely fish head sitting in the middle of the plate.
Looking at the three individuals whose faces were glistening with oil, Rynar sighed helplessly and refocused his attention on the earth boar, diligently cutting more meat.
Still, he had to admit—it truly lived up to its reputation as a high-level magical beast! The meat was exceptional.
Any random cut yielded the finest "snowflake" marbling. The texture of the meat wasn't any worse than that of the famed wagyu beef from those well-off countries.
"Sizzle~" Rynar casually unsheathed his Dragon-Slaying Sword and placed it over the fire, evenly laying out palm-sized slices of meat, each an inch thick, on the blade.
No iron plate? That was no problem for Rynar, the genius!
Ever heard of an epic-grade teppanyaki? Combined with a Paladin's exclusive anti-magic holy flame, the pork cooked rapidly.
Rynar casually sprinkled chili powder, cumin, and salt over it, then used chopsticks carved from tree branches to flip the slices, repeating the process.
"Here! Taste the flavors of home!" Rynar gazed nostalgically at the roasted meat he had prepared, his eyes filled with longing.
Who could truly understand the homesickness of a traveler in a different dimension?
"It really does have that taste..." Rynar glanced at the golden ale in his cup, took in the fragrant aroma of the roasted meat, and chuckled to himself in self-mockery.
"Hey! Were you guys starving in a past life?" Rynar's eyes widened.
He had completely overlooked one key detail—spices were incredibly rare in Middle-earth! Just a pinch of cumin and chili had utterly shaken these native folks to their core!
...
"Hic~" A soft burp sounded. Rynar looked at Nyx, her flushed face radiating beauty, and his eyes were filled with affection.
"Ate too much?" Rynar smiled as he gently brushed away the stray strands of hair from Nyx's eyes.
"Mmm, too full~ But your roasted meat is the best!" Nyx grinned sweetly, breathtakingly beautiful.
"Come on, let's take a walk. We'll rest for the night and head back tomorrow. We can't stay out too long—two days off is plenty." Rynar casually ruffled Nyx's soft, flowing hair, turning it into a golden lion's mane.
"Oh!" Nyx obediently nodded, quickly smoothing out her tousled hair before following Rynar.
...
"System? Sign in!" Rynar squinted as he raised a hand to block the sunlight filtering through the wooden window. Ah, another daily ritual. He affectionately called it his "scavenger hunt."
"Congratulations, Host! You have successfully signed in! You have received—The Centaur's Grasp!" The system's cold, mechanical voice instantly woke Rynar up.
"Not bad! Some 'cow-horse grip'?" Rynar muttered to himself, assuming it was another useless item, as he casually opened the description.
The Centaur's Grasp: A legendary weapon!
This bowstring is crafted from the primary sinew of an Earth Dragon! The bow's body is made from twin branches of the Sacred Tree!
Bonded together with dragon glue and blessed by numerous centaur high priests, it is imbued with powerful enchantments! A longbow exclusively for centaurs!
Abilities:
Earth's Grasp: When a centaur wields this bow and stands on the ground, their stamina and battle energy rapidly recover! (Passive)
Child of the Earth: When equipped, standing on the ground doubles the centaur's defense and increases their battle energy limit by 50%! (Passive)
Child of the Jungle: When wielded in a forest, the centaur's wounds continuously heal until fully recovered! (Passive)
Dragon-Rending Strike: The centaur can expend a portion of battle energy to swing the bow in a devastating attack, dealing immense soul damage to the target! (Cooldown: 30 seconds)
"This is ridiculous!" Rynar shot upright in bed, completely ignoring the disgruntled beauty beside him.
"What kind of nonsense is this? Rather than calling it a weapon, they should've just named it armor!
It's basically a mobile health pack and a walking fortress! Are centaurs supposed to fly next?" Rynar grumbled in his heart.
"Wait... some centaurs actually can fly..." He suddenly recalled a rare breed of winged centaurs.
After comforting Nyx, Rynar stepped outside to examine this so-called centaur-exclusive legendary weapon.
The more he looked at it, the more speechless he became.
This thing practically guaranteed that its wielder could kite enemies indefinitely!
Infinite endurance with built-in healing—who could even fight a centaur in the forest while they had this?
Unless you could one-shot them, you had no way to counter it! Rynar was disgusted by how overpowered the enchantments were.
It reminded him of those annoying, broken items in certain online games—where no matter how hard you hit, the enemy's health regenerated faster than you could damage them...
"What exactly were these high priests thinking with these blessings?
It's nothing but buffs all the way through!" Rynar was utterly exasperated with the centaur high priests who had enchanted this bow. A weapon that had essentially been turned into armor!
And the only active offensive skill was for melee combat!
Rynar wanted to grab those high priests by their robes and demand, "Dear elders, could you please explain to me why you put a close-combat skill on a longbow?!"
Rynar sat there in a daze, clutching the massive longbow that was over two meters long. The materials were undoubtedly top-notch—dragon sinew and Sacred Tree branches!
But now, he had to decide whether to give this absurdly overpowered bow to Bardel.
In his mind, centaurs should be heavily armored tanks that charge into battle, with archery as a secondary tactic.
"Oh well, I guess he can treat it as extra armor..." Rynar gritted his teeth and accepted the bizarre legendary weapon.
Sure, it was a great drop, but it just didn't sit right with him! What kind of longbow had stats like these? Even the Battanian archers weren't this extreme.
"Good morning, Baron Bardel!" Rynar called out to the newly awakened centaur.
Bardel's eyes were instantly drawn to the bow in Rynar's hands. Though he didn't know why, he felt a deep, instinctive connection to it—almost as if it were whispering to him: Pick me up... Pick me up...
"Good morning, Your Highness. This bow..."
Bardel asked, his tone filled with unspoken curiosity. Clearly, Rynar couldn't use such an oversized weapon—who had ever heard of a bow that was two heads taller than its wielder?
"Here, it's yours. I forgot to give it to you yesterday. A legendary weapon. Don't forget who you are." Rynar sighed, struggling to hand the massive bow to the burly centaur.
He meant for Bardel to remember the centaur's famed charging abilities—but Bardel misunderstood.
The moment he accepted the bow and infused it with battle energy, Bardel immediately grasped its power.
Feeling the seamless bond between himself and the weapon, he instantly dropped to one knee and swore an oath to Rynar.
"Thank you for your great gift, Your Highness! I shall never fail your trust! Where your will points, my arrows shall strike!"
Bardel's devotion was absolute. He understood that even if the entire Tupet Tribe were sold off, they wouldn't be able to afford a weapon of this caliber.
A legendary weapon—priceless! Especially one meant specifically for centaurs. Its value was immeasurable!
"Rise, it merely belongs to its rightful owner. This was a treasure in the old royal treasury. Since you can use it, it's yours."
Rynar casually fabricated an explanation. Who could truly say what legacies the Zaltarion Empire had left behind? It was the perfect excuse.
"We plan to head back today. I leave things here to you, Baron."
Rynar glanced at the sun, already high in the sky. After breakfast, it was time to leave—before Caslow had to fly over on a dragon to drag him back.
