In the northern reaches of the Jia Ma Empire lies the Tagor Desert, the largest desert on the northwestern continent. This vast expanse of arid land borders not only the Jia Ma Empire but also several other smaller nations. Within this inhospitable wasteland resides a unique race—the Serpent People.
Under the fading light of the setting sun, dozens of fully armed serpent warriors patrolled a section of the desert. Armed with venomous spears and sharp eyes, they meticulously scanned their surroundings. Any intruder—especially a non-serpent being—would be dealt with mercilessly.
The patrols moved in a tight grid, crossing paths with other squads, leaving tracks from their long, snaking tails in the sand.
"Those damned humans dared to start another war with us. In just a few days, so many of our kin have perished. If we catch any of them, I'll personally ensure they suffer the agony of being devoured alive by a thousand snakes."
Even with the sun gone, the presumed leader of the patrol barked orders, urging his team to remain vigilant. His words hinted at the brewing conflict between the Serpent People and the humans, which had led to heightened security in their sacred city.
Despite the tense atmosphere, none of the patrols noticed a shadow streaking through the clouds above them. The figure moved rapidly, concealed by the darkness of the moonless night.
"Below is the Sacred City of the Serpent People!"
Muchen hovered within the clouds, shielding himself against the biting chill with his Inner Flame. Without its protection, flying through the frigid desert skies would have been impossible.
After curing Nalan Jie of his lingering poison, Muchen had requested Seven Illusion Green Spirit Saliva as his reward. Nalan Jie, deeply grateful, did not hesitate to grant the request. The elder even insisted Muchen stay as his guest for half a month before reluctantly bidding him farewell.
Once he left the Nalan family, Muchen parted ways with Gu Xun'er. While she returned to the Gu Clan, he made his way to the Serpent People's Sacred City.
Unlike humans, the Serpent People were a hybrid race with serpentine lower bodies. Their Sacred City bore a striking resemblance to human cities, save for its distinct architectural style.
Looking down on the bustling streets of the Sacred City from above, Muchen noted the lively crowds enjoying their nighttime activities. At the heart of the city lay an impressive palace complex, standing tall like a fortress.
"This mission requires me to sign in on Queen Medusa's bed. How troublesome."
Muchen sighed at the seemingly impossible task. A queen of her stature would undoubtedly reside in the innermost sanctum of her palace—a sprawling labyrinth of rooms numbering in the thousands. Locating her bedchamber felt as daunting as searching for a needle in a haystack.
Activating his Di-state Tier Soul, Muchen scanned the palace while descending rapidly. Within moments, his feet touched the ground.
The ongoing war between the Serpent People and humans had turned the palace into a fortress. Patrols were everywhere, making it difficult to move unnoticed.
"How on earth am I supposed to find her chambers?"
Frustrated, Muchen scratched his head. Interrogating a few captured guards had proven fruitless, as they remained tight-lipped about their queen's whereabouts.
Left with no other choice, Muchen decided to make his presence known.
"Queen Medusa! Are you bold enough to meet me, Muchen, face-to-face?"
His voice, imbued with soul power, rippled through the palace like a rolling thunderclap, breaking the tense silence of the night. Startled, the guards rushed toward him, venomous spears raised.
"You dare invade our queen's palace? This is an act of war! Prepare to die, human!" a squad leader barked, lunging at Muchen with his spear.
Before the attack landed, Muchen let out an exaggerated sneeze. The resulting shockwave blasted the squad leader and his soldiers off their feet, sending them tumbling across the ground.
"You dare to retaliate? Kill him!"
Another squad leader rallied his troops. This time, a dozen guards charged Muchen simultaneously.
Muchen bent slightly and released a thunderous fart. The resounding blast sent the attackers flying in all directions, leaving them sprawled on the ground, stunned.
"This..."
"How is this possible?"
"Is he even human?"
The remaining guards stared at Muchen in disbelief, their confidence shattered. A man capable of such devastating power without lifting a finger was far beyond their comprehension.
"Human, how dare you cause such chaos in the queen's palace?"
A soft yet commanding voice cut through the tension. Turning toward the source, Muchen saw a stunning half-snake woman with regal bearing and a faintly heroic aura approaching. Her purple-scaled tail glided gracefully across the ground.
"Captain Hua!"
The guards parted to make way for her, bowing in deference.
"Hua She'er?" Muchen muttered, recognizing her immediately. As the captain of Queen Medusa's elite Serpent Guard, Hua She'er was a renowned figure among the Serpent People, known for her martial prowess and unyielding loyalty.
"Who are you?" she asked, her piercing gaze fixed on Muchen.
"Muchen," he replied simply. "You saw what happened. They attacked me first. I only defended myself. Surely, you wouldn't expect me to stand by and let them kill me?"
Hua She'er remained silent, her sharp eyes assessing him. Despite his casual demeanor, she sensed the immense power radiating from him, far exceeding that of any foe she had ever encountered.
"Follow me. I will take you to the queen," she finally said, gesturing for him to follow.
Muchen trailed behind Hua She'er through the palace's winding corridors. Eventually, they arrived at a grand hall lined with towering bookshelves—a space more suited to a royal study than a bedchamber.
At the center of the hall sat a magnificent jade throne, upon which reclined an enchanting figure. Queen Medusa, a half-human, half-snake beauty of unparalleled allure, lazily flipped through a book, her every movement exuding a mesmerizing grace.
